Chapter 10: The Apocalypse, and the Resolve a Woman Should Have!
Xiao Yi's face grew cold as he shot a frosty glare at Shen Tingting. "If you don't want to bury zombies, then you can follow me out to kill them and find food! My castle doesn't support freeloaders! You should be grateful you're my woman; otherwise, you'd have starved to death in that dorm, without even having a chance to survive! And now, you get to do such a simple job in exchange for safety and food, and you're still not satisfied?!"
Li Wanning quickly pinched Shen Tingting, shooting her a fierce glare of her own.
This was the apocalypse. In the apocalypse, men were clearly stronger than women. If a woman wanted to survive, she could only depend on a man, becoming his appendage.
For Shen Tingting to still be so naive at a time like this was simply not knowing her place!
Feeling the chill in Xiao Yi's gaze, Shen Tingting nodded resentfully, holding back her tears. "Fine, fine. Whatever you say is what goes. I'll listen to you from now on!"
Shen Tingting had originally thought that after she and Li Wanning had served Xiao Yi so diligently and given him such immense pleasure, they would have been able to capture the heart of this loser. On top of that, they were both virgins; most men would have been overjoyed and would have felt pity for them, even doting on them as the boys who used to fawn over her and Li Wanning had done.
But unexpectedly, Xiao Yi still wore that same unfeeling, deadpan expression, as if he didn't care about them at all.
Shen Tingting glanced at her own figure, pouted unhappily, and thought to herself, "With such amazing assets, I refuse to believe I can't conquer you! Hmph! We'll see about tonight!"
Xiao Yi watched as the two women dragged the zombie corpses and tossed them into the pit, nodding in satisfaction. With these two to bury the zombie corpses for him from now on, he could go out and kill zombies for supplies without a worry.
There were still dozens of zombie corpses on the open ground. Xiao Yi calculated that even working day and night at the fastest pace, it would take the two of them a full day and night to bury them all.
But for now, these two were the only ones he could order around. He couldn't very well have two delicate beauties working around the clock, could he?
Xiao Yi casually dragged a rattan chair to the top of the wall, sat down, and started munching on melon seeds while pondering his next move.
He had enough zombie corpses for now, and enough food to last over a month.
The most pressing matters now were to improve his quality of life and to find a few more beautiful women to be his servants.
As he mulled this over, Xiao Yi thought of the people in the school warehouse.
Although Ling Xueya was a bit arrogant and harsh, her looks and figure were outstanding. Xiao Yi thought of Ling Xueya's seductive charm and her haughty demeanor, and a familiar itch stirred within him. If he remembered correctly, Ling Xueya was also Chen Kun's girlfriend.
If he were to humiliate Ling Xueya right in front of Chen Kun, he wondered what kind of reaction that proud and self-important Young Master Chen would have.
Then there was that cute and lovely girl with the innocent voice, Wang Jiaojiao. Back when they had tried to drive him out to his death, Wang Jiaojiao had spoken up for him. Saving those two later would be perfect. One could be his personal maid, and the other his servant.
But the time for that hadn't come yet.
Xiao Yi calculated their food supply. After he left, they should be able to last for another week or so. It would probably be more effective if he showed up only when they were truly desperate.
"Hmph! That bastard! He's over there sunbathing and eating seeds while making us two delicate girls move these corpses! How hateful! Is he even a man?!" Shen Tingting stared at the relaxed Xiao Yi, her eyes burning with anger as she pouted.
"Tingting! You need to watch what you say from now on! We have to rely on him to survive. If you really think about it, you'll realize we're not getting a bad deal. He's the one who has to risk his life to find food for us and protect our safety, while all we have to do is this easy work to live in peace. Compared to everyone else in the apocalypse, we're already incredibly lucky!" Li Wanning said in a soft, reasonable voice.
"Wanning! You're just too kind! Always thinking of others! Just think about what he did to you back in the dorm! I'm still sore!" Shen Tingting said, her face flushed with a mix of shame and grievance.
Li Wanning looked at Xiao Yi's figure, bit her lip, and murmured, "Actually, he's quite handsome, and very capable. Although he's a bit cold and domineering, that's exactly why he can survive better, and why we can live longer under his protection. Just think, what would happen if we fell into the hands of a group of greasy, middle-aged men? In this apocalypse, you and I could only become their playthings! And once they got tired of us, they might even kill us just to save food!"
Shen Tingting was shaken by Li Wanning's words, shuddering involuntarily. The look she gave Xiao Yi gradually softened.
Xiao Yi had no idea what the two women were thinking, nor did he care.
To him, they were just his servants.
Just as Xiao Yi was starting to doze off, a sudden glint of light reflected in his eyes. He jerked his head up and saw someone in the distance, at the gymnasium, holding a mirror and shining the reflection right in his face.
