Chapter 22 - chapter 22

"Hahaha, so cute."

From "Su Zai Zai the Little Fairy's Diary"

After Su Zai Zai said that, she felt it might not have been appropriate.

Right now, teasing a great beauty can only stay on a mental level; if it rashly moves to the physical level, it might be too hasty.

She thought about it for a moment and added, "...your dog."

Upon hearing this, the heat in Zhang Lu Rang's ears began to subside. He turned his head to look at her, his eyes devoid of emotion.

Su Zai Zai, worried that he didn't understand, repeated, "If your dog bites me, I'll bite back, and I'll bite your dog."

Zhang Lu Rang: "..."

There was a moment of silence.

Zhang Lu Rang shoved the bag in his hand into hers and said in a deep voice, "Finish eating and then go back."

Upon hearing this, Su Zai Zai was a bit unhappy and muttered under her breath, "I didn't wake up so early just to eat breakfast."

"What?" He didn't catch what she said.

She didn't respond, quietly opening the bag.

Looking inside.

Three red bean buns, two pieces of toasted bread, and two bottles of pure milk.

As they talked, the two of them walked to a lawn in the community.

Zhang Lu Rang crouched down and untied the dog's leash.

Su Zai Zai's gaze followed the dog as it quickly ran far away.

Then, the two of them walked to a stone bench under the shade of a tree and sat down.

Su Zai Zai picked up a bottle of milk, inserted a straw into the aluminum foil at the bottle's mouth, and offered it to him like she was presenting a treasure.

Zhang Lu Rang glanced at her and took it.

Looking at the bread inside, Su Zai Zai scratched her head, her face full of indecision.

"Lu Rang, will you be full with two red bean buns and a piece of toasted bread?" she asked.

Zhang Lu Rang nodded.

"How about with one red bean bun and a piece of toasted bread?"

"Mm."

Su Zai Zai persistently continued asking, "What if there's only onepiece of toasted bread?"

"...Mm."

Hearing his affirmative answers, Su Zai Zai happily made a decision.

"Then you'll just eat one piece of toasted bread."

Zhang Lu Rang: "..."

Su Zai Zai didn't notice his reaction, silently thinking: with this amount, if I eat slowly, I can probably stretch it out until noon.

And I can't just focus on eating; I have to talk, so I can slow down as much as possible.

Su Zai Zai thought for a moment and said, "Let me tell you a joke."

"..." He wasn't interested.

But Su Zai Zai didn't care whether he wanted to hear it or not and started anyway.

"Many people did poorly on the midterm exam. The teacher was furious, saying, 'The fill-in-the-blank questions were practically giving away 40 points, yet some people scored only 10 or 20 points? Everyone who scored between 10 and 20, stand up and copy the test paper ten times!'"

Zhang Lu Rang, as usual, showed no expression, keeping his head down as he bit into the toast.

"One classmate then said in relief, 'Phew, I scored 21.' Then another classmate spoke up and said, 'I'm also lucky, I got 9.'""

After Su Zai Zai finished, she immediately burst out laughing.

Zhang Lu Rang had no reaction.

Now Su Zai Zai was at a loss: "Wasn't that funny?"

Zhang Lu Rang paused before responding, "Mm."

Su Zai Zai, who has a very low threshold for humor, began to feel a bit embarrassed and accused him, "Are you just focusing on eating?"

"Do you think that after you finish eating, I'll give you some of mine?"

Zhang Lu Rang was about to deny it when he heard her continue, "Don't even think about it."

After her outburst, Su Zai Zai quickly softened, hurriedly handing over a red bean bun.

"Of course, I wouldn't just give you a little. I spoil you so much; how could I do that to you?"

Zhang Lu Rang: "..."

Seeing that he seemed unwilling to take it, Su Zai Zar direcuy stuffed it into his hand.

She suddenly remembered something and asked, "Lu Rang, are you still planning to choose science for your major?"

Zhang Lu Rang held the red bean bun but didn't move.

He replied nonchalantly, "Mm."

Su Zai Zai responded with a slightly disappointed "Oh."

Zhang Lu Rang turned his head to glance at her: "Study hard."

She didn't know why he suddenly said that, but Su Zai Zai still felt it was necessary to defend herself.

"I've always been studying hard."

Zhang Lu Rang didn't say anything.

Su Zai Zai couldn't help but continue speaking up for herself, "This time, including the science comprehensive exam, I ranked 825th in the grade!"

If she chose liberal arts, she would definitely get into the advanced class.

Hearing this, Zhang Lu Rang frowned, "I ranked 25th."

Su Zai Zai was stunned for a moment before she spoke in disbelief.

"Then why were you unhappy that day? I thought you did badly, so I didn't even dare to bring up grades and just kept trying to cheer you up."

"..." He did feel like he hadn't done well.

But Zhang Lu Rang didn't dare say that now.

"I can't believe it, you actually ranked 25th."

"You've been toying with me in different ways."

"You let someone who ranked 825th try to cheer up someone who ranked 25th."

"...I didn't."

Su Zai Zai didn't care what he said, continuing to ramble on.

"Zhang Lu Rang, if you don't cheer me up, I might completely lose my spirit, fall into despair, and never be able to return to being the confident and domineering Su Zai, or the beautiful and lovely little fairy."

Zhang Lu Rang had no idea what to say.

After holding back for a while, he finally squeezed out, "Be normal."

"Choose: cheer me up or lose me, which one?"

"Hurry up and choose."

Zhang Lu Rang scratched his head, compromising, "...How do I cheer you up?"

Su Zai Zai thought for a moment, then grinned cheekily, "Ask me, who am I."

Looking at her, Zhang Lu Rang hesitated but still asked, "Who are you?"

"I'm Zai Zai!" She smiled with her eyes curved, dragging out the last syllable on purpose.

Zhang Lu Rang: "..."

After a while, Su Zai Zai asked, "Who are you?"

"..." Zhang Lu Rang felt like he was on the verge of breaking down.

Seeing the expectant look in Su Zai Zai's eyes, he lowered his gaze.

His eyes were full of defeat.

Soon, he slightly opened his lips and, in a serious tone, uttered four words.

"I'm Rang Rang."

These four words would probably keep Su Zai Zai in a good moo for a whole month.

She decided not to waste too much of his time.

Su Zai Zai sped up her breakfast.

Noticing out of the corner of his eye that she was almost done, Zhang Lu Rang called Su Su back and fastened the leash.

Su Zai Zai smiled widely, watching him without saying a word.

Zhang Lu Rang looked away and said coldly, "Go home."

"Are you mad?" Su Zai Zai moved closer to him.

He didn't respond.

"Don't you think that kind of conversation is cute?" Su Zai Zai asked.

Zhang Lu Rang's jaw tightened, and his mouth was set in a straight line, "No."

"Then why did you say it?"

r

"You said it and now you're upset."

"And now I have to cheer you up."

Su Zai Zai sighed and said, "You cheer me up with one sentence, and I have to cheer you up with ten."

Finally, unable to bear it any longer, he spoke, "I'm not mad."

Having had her fun, Su Zai Zai switched to another topic.

"When you're not at home, is it your parents who take care of Su Su?"

Zhang Lu Rang paused for a moment before slowly replying, "No."

Su Zai Zai, who had expected a definite "yes," was taken aback.

"Huh?"

"Then, who takes care of it?"

Zhang Lu Rang answered softly, "My uncle."

"Oh." Su Zai Zai didn't ask any more questions.

After a while. Su Zai Zai changed the subject again, "Lu Rang, I want to get a dog."

He frowned and said in a serious tone, "Don't get one."

Su Zai Zai was puzzled, "Why not?"

He looked at her and replied seriously:

"I'm afraid you'll bite it."
