Her child was still thrashing meaninglessly and crying incessantly. The loud wailing continued ringing in Lyra's ears even long after the bar was left far behind.
'Is the Manager going to take care of my child? Is she still waiting for me to come back?'
Lyra walked down the street, her arms tucked tightly against her lover, but her mind was completely filled with thoughts of her child. Lyra was very well acquainted with the wailing of her infant whenever she stepped out for a short while, but it felt as though this particular separation would change her forever.
However, Lyra could not find it in her heart to go back to her child right now. She would usually have run straight to her, but after what had happened recently, she feared she would lose the most if she turned back now.
Though, in truth, she couldn't really remember what had happened last night.
