I picked up a chocolate flavored milk and a bottle of water. Just as I was about to pay, a small square box near the counter caught my eye.
Come to think of it, I had gone to a motel intending to spend the night with someone without being fully prepared.
I pretended to browse other items while glancing sideways at the display.

I stood there longer than necessary.

In the end, I quickly grabbed a pack of condoms and one of the gel packets, hiding them under the other items before placing everything on the counter.
My heart was beating faster than it should have been, but the clerk barely looked at them. Their expression stayed indifferent, just like it would have been for drinks.
