"I didn't say anything inappropriate. I told Jasmine that her mother was a criminal," Isabella spoke up. Her parents didn't bother to make her keep quiet. If anything, a small smile spread across their lips, as if they were proud of what she'd just said. "Isn't that true?" The little girl asked, looking at Navira. "You're a criminal, right?"
"What did you just say?" Navira couldn't believe her ears. An eight-year-old had just called her a criminal and her parents didn't even bother to reprimand her. They just stared her down, as if challenging her to retaliate.
"That's what my mummy told me," Isabella continued, looking at her mother who was dressed in a fancy gown that was adorned with diamonds.
It was just a simple meeting at school, yet, she dolled herself up so much that one would think she was heading to a party.
"Isabella," the principal snapped, and the little girl shrank back in fear, nestling herself into her mother's arms.
