The guards thought I was asleep.
Big mistake.
I sat quietly in the chair with my head slightly lowered.
Two guards were talking near the warehouse entrance.
"…Boss said ten minutes."
"Ten?"
"Yeah."
My ears sharpened.
Ten minutes for what?
The second guard looked nervous.
"You really think they'll come?"
The first one laughed.
"They always come."
I slowly lifted my head just enough to listen better.
"Once they enter the building," the first guard continued, "boom."
Boom?
My stomach dropped.
The second guard looked around.
"You sure the explosives are ready?"
Explosives.
Great.
The first guard nodded toward the walls.
"They're everywhere."
He tapped a metal pillar beside him.
"Whole warehouse goes down."
Cold realization spread through my chest.
This wasn't just a trap.
This was a death trap.
If Jay and the others came in normally…
Everyone would die.
I clenched my fists against the ropes.
"…Damn it."
The guards kept talking.
"Boss wants Night Byte inside before he triggers it."
Luna Byte.
Jay.
My jaw tightened.
I looked toward the dark entrance of the warehouse.
Somewhere out there…
they were probably already coming.
I leaned back in the chair and whispered quietly.
"…Jay."
My voice barely reached the air.
"Don't come." ⚡
