Chapter 28 - The First Years

(Pov Yuji)

This had been the weirdest day of my life, and not even in a fun way. First, my grandpa died. I had known it was coming, but it still hurt. Then that guy showed up, Fushiguro, and he yelled at me about that box we found, which was actually some super dangerous object. My friends almost died after opening it and being attacked, and now I've got some old guy living in me because I ate the finger. There was also that big guy with the white hair, he was a real weirdo, I think his name was Satoshi, whatever it was that jerk knocked me out.

Now I was tied to a chair in some room, and there were two of those weird guys now. There was the one I saw at the school, but the other had a blindfold on for some reason. "Oh, good, you're awake now, we can get to business." The guy in the blindfold said, nudging the other guy. Were they twins or something?

"Ah, that's good now, Yuji, we need to have a chat." Said the other guy, he had a smile on his face and talked like he was speaking to a scared animal.

(Pov Satoshi)

The talk with Yuji had gone about as well as it could have, and Satoru managed to explain the situation to him, both about the demon now inside him and his execution order being suspended until later. Yuji had been given some time, but ultimately agreed to eat more of Sukuna's fingers and to also become a sorcerer, which means he's now my responsibility. Well, so long as Yaga says yes, but I knew he would, he just likes to pretend when he's really a big softie.

"So, Gojo-Sensei, this guy Sukuna, who is he exactly?" Yuji asked as we made our way across the campus.

"Well, about a thousand years ago, there lived a demon with four arms, four eyes, and two mouths. He haunted Japan, killing whoever, whenever, and eating them as well. That was Ryomen Sukuna, the strongest sorcerer in history during his time. Great sorcerers banded together to defeat him and lost. Eventually, he disappeared, but in his place came his twenty fingers, each containing part of his being and cursed energy. They're indestructible and extremely dangerous, as you know, even more so since he managed to incarnate within you." I explained.

"He's that strong? Could you beat him?" Yuji asked.

"Well, if he regained all his power, it might be a little troublesome."

"But would you lose?"

"Nad I'd win." As I said, it felt as if I had achieved one of my greatest goals. Ever since I had come to this world and realized who I was, the temptation to say that had been killing me, and now I said it. Definitely a bucket list cross off.

Though the moment was ruined by a certain guest. "Just wait until the moment I take control of this brat, I'll kill you first," Sukuna said out of a little mouth on Yuji's cheek, though it didn't last long before Yuji slapped it closed.

"Sorry, he talks a lot," Yuji said with a sheepish grin on his face.

Before long, we had made it to Yaga's office, where he was busy stitching together more cursed dolls. "You're early." He said I was usually early to things, a trait from my first life, and somehow that seemed to annoy Yaga as much as Satoru being late.

"Oh, come on, Yaga, it's only a few minutes this time," I complained, though by now it was mostly just to mess with him, one of the pros of having known him so long.

"So this is the one." He said, gesturing to Yuji beside me. I nodded before nudging the teen.

"Greetings i'm Itadori Yuji, and I'm into girls like Jennifer Lawrence." He blurts out.

"That's too much info." I say, elbowing him in the side.

With introductions out of the way, things went about as they would have with Yaga sending one of his cursed corpses after Yuji and demanding his answer on why he wants to be a sorcerer. With the introductions to the principal done with, I brought Yuji back to his room and began preparing for the next day. Tomorrow, I, along with Yuji and Megumi would be meeting up with the third first-year student, Kugisaki Nobara.

I had to admit, now seeing the group of main characters coming together, it felt a little weird. These were people I had only known through a screen or on a page, but now I was an authority figure in their lives. Though I couldn't help but wonder how things would go now, it had been a constant thought on my mind over the past few years, given how much had already changed. Not to mention, I had been in this world for nearly thirty years now; my memories from my previous life weren't easy to recall. I was having more and more trouble recalling the events of the story. Sure, the major moments stuck out still, but the small things weren't there.

At this point, things had changed so much that I was even focusing on the original story; there's no guarantee that even major events will happen now. I mean, with Suguru not being evil, there was no Night Parade of 100 Demons. Who's to say events will go the same from now on? Maybe there won't be a Shibuya incident, or maybe there'd even be no Culling Games.

Dwelling on these thoughts didn't matter now; I could only wait to see what came about and do everything in my power to prepare my students when the time came.

The next morning found myself outside waiting for Nobara to arrive. I was waiting with Megumi and Yuji, who had gotten his uniform this morning. We didn't have to wait long before we heard a commotion and noticed a young woman with brown hair yelling at a guy on the street. Kugisaki Nobara, the third first-year student and the final piece of our main crew, at least at the start, now it was time to mold minds and shape these students, and I had just the mission in mind.
