The large, old church kept its cool, while outside August was asserting its rule with temperatures above thirty degrees.
Thousands of flowers had been arranged inside the church in such a way as to give the bride a fairytale wedding. Family and close friends invited to take part in the event waited with bated breath for the happy couple standing before the altar to say "I do."
Maya and Bogdan sat in the front row, carefully watching to make sure everything went as planned.
On the seat between them, a tiny human bundle dressed in blue, no bigger than a bottle of Pepsi, slept peacefully in his car seat. Amid the priest's prayers, the proud father stole glances at his child.
Then Cristi and Diana vowed to stay together until death would part them. Red rose petals were thrown as Diana was kissed for the first time by her husband. The guests gazed at the happy couple and wished them a long and joyful life as the two of them made their way toward the church exit.
Bogdan and Maya were the last to leave the place of worship. Bogdan held his left arm around Maya's waist, while in his right hand he carried the car seat. They stopped on the steps in front of the church, watching Cristi and Diana take photos with the guests, then looking at the baby who slept undisturbed by the commotion around him.
Bogdan kissed Maya and promised her the immortality of his love. Then and there, he knelt down, placed the car seat beside him, took the elegant black box from his pocket, and asked his beloved to be his wife.
