Chapter 14 - The Seal of Endless Hunger

Two days later.

Deep beneath the Void household—

There existed a vast, lightless hall.

The ceiling was so high it disappeared into darkness, supported by ancient pillars carved with symbols no modern mage could fully decipher. The air itself felt heavy, as if the world was holding its breath.

At the center of the hall—

A giant, ancient relic-type spell circle glowed sky blue upon the ground.

Its design was archaic. Not elegant. Not beautiful.

But absolute.

Twelve of Voidcrest's finest healers stood around it, positioned at equal distances, forming a perfect ring.

Each of them was exhausted.

Yet none dared to stop.

In the very middle of the circle—

Solaris lay unconscious.

Motionless.

Like a child caught between worlds.

Every healer poured their mana into him—carefully, cautiously.

And every single time—

The same thing happened.

Their mana vanished.

Not dispersed.

Not reflected.

But devoured.

That red seal on Solaris's chest drank magic like an infinite, starving void.

No matter how refined the spell.

No matter how divine the mana.

It was all the same to it.

Lady Isolde stood at the front, her expression sharp, composed—but her eyes betrayed sleepless nights.

"Six people heal," she commanded calmly.

"The other six rest and recover."

Her gaze swept across them.

"Do not use your full mana."

"Take your time. Rotate properly."

No one argued.

They knew—this was not a patient they could rush.

Lady Isolde stepped closer to Solaris, her voice lowering as if speaking to herself.

"It took two days… and two nights…"

She clenched her fist slowly.

"Just to stabilize his mana."

Her eyes fixed on the seal.

"Surprisingly… his body has begun recovering on its own."

The red seal no longer shook violently.

No longer tore reality apart.

It had stabilized.

But it wasn't dormant.

It pulsed.

Glowing faintly… then dimming… again and again—

Like a living heart.

Like something aware.

Lady Isolde continued, her voice heavy.

"We tried everything."

"Sealing spells."

"Purification."

"Extraction rituals."

Her lips tightened.

"Nothing worked."

She turned slightly, addressing the healers.

"It consumes every spell."

"Anything related to mana."

She gestured toward a shattered relic nearby.

"Even ancient magical relics become nothing but trash when exposed to it."

A silence followed.

Then—

"So we changed our approach."

Her voice steadied.

"Instead of fighting it… we fed it."

The healers exchanged grim looks.

"And it worked."

She looked back at Solaris.

"The cracks on his body are healing."

"His mana flow is no longer tearing him apart."

A pause.

Then Lady Isolde raised her hand slightly.

"Alright."

"I think this is enough for now."

The healers slowly withdrew their mana, one by one, visibly drained.

"Thank you for responding to our call."

She bowed deeply.

Not as royalty.

Not as a legend.

But—

"As a mother… thank you."

The healers stiffened.

Then bowed in unison.

"We are honored to assist the Legendary Royal Blood Healer," one of them said.

"It is an honor beyond words."

Another added,

"Please feel free to summon us anytime."

Lady Isolde nodded.

As the healers departed—

The hall grew silent once more.

Only the faint hum of the ancient spell circle remained.

And at its center—

The seal on Solaris's chest pulsed softly.

Patient.

Waiting.

Still Hungry.

---

Back in the present.

Lady Isolde sat beside the bed, her posture calm, her breathing steady—but her mind was restless.

Solaris is fully healed now…

Yet the seal is still there.

Her gaze drifted unconsciously toward her son's chest, hidden beneath the blanket.

And Alistair…

For some reason, he has locked himself away since that day.

Her fingers clenched slightly.

I still don't know what truly happened in that forest.

The only thing she knew came from the battle lords and veteran guards—men who had survived countless wars.

By the energy signature alone, they had reached the same conclusion.

The Void Beast Aura.

Before her thoughts could go any deeper—

A faint movement caught her attention.

Solaris's eyelids trembled.

Slowly… ever so slowly… they began to open.

"Lady Isolde—!"

One of the maids gasped, stepping forward.

"Look! Young Master is waking up!"

Lady Isolde froze for half a heartbeat.

Then all composure shattered.

She leaned forward instantly and pulled Solaris into her arms, holding him as if he might disappear again. Warm tears slipped down her cheeks and soaked into his hair.

"Solaris… thank the heavens…"

Still half-lost between sleep and waking, Solaris blinked a few times.

"M-Mother…?"

"What's wrong… why are you crying?"

His voice was weak, confused—but alive.

Around the bed, the maids pressed their hands to their mouths, eyes shimmering like frightened puppies seeing their master return.

"Young Master…!"

Solaris looked around slowly.

The familiar ceiling.

The curtains fluttering softly in the breeze.

The scent of herbs and clean linen.

"Ah… this is my room…"

Lady Isolde quickly wiped her tears— unaware of what Solaris was thinking, forcing herself to smile.

She cupped his cheek gently.

"How are you feeling now, dear?"

"Does anything hurt? Anywhere at all?"

Solaris moved his fingers.

His arms.

He even shifted his legs under the blanket.

"No… I feel totally fine."

He frowned slightly, puzzled.

"But… why is everyone acting like this?"

The smile on Lady Isolde's face wavered.

Her voice softened.

"Solaris…"

"You don't remember what happened?"

He stared at her.

Blank.

Unknowing.

"Huh?"

The room grew quiet.

Lady Isolde's heart sank.

She exchanged glances with the maids, then looked back at her son—alive, breathing, smiling gently… yet completely unaware.

Whatever had happened that day—

It had been erased from his memory.

---

Mother slowly pointed toward my chest.

"Solaris… do you know what that is, honey?"

I followed her finger.

Beneath the thin cotton garment, something pulsed.

A red, circular seal—

not a perfect circle—

its edges slightly distorted, as if the air around it was bending.

It glowed up and down.

Like a heartbeat.

Like it was breathing.

I tilted my head with pure curiosity.

"Ohhh… that tattoo!"

I poked it lightly with my finger.

"I think it gets hungry again!"

For a moment the entire room froze.

Mother stared at me with a face that was half horror, half disbelief.

"Tattoo…?"

"That thing is a tattoo to you!?"

The maids exchanged glances as if they were watching a child call a dragon a 'cute lizard.'

I didn't really understand their reaction.

It just felt… normal to me.

Instinctively, I touched my chest again.

The moment my palm rested over the seal—

Something happened.

A soft cyan-blue light began to glow from my hand.

Not like fire.

Not like wind.

It was gentle.

Warm.

Like liquid starlight made of pure mana.

The glow slowly flowed into the red seal.

And then—

The seal reacted.

It drank the light.

Greedily.

The violent red color calmed, turning into a deep, peaceful blue.

The distorted edges stopped trembling.

The pulsing slowed—

like a beast finally satisfied after a long hunger.

Then… it fainted into silence.

The room was dead quiet.

One maid dropped the towel she was holding.

Another covered her mouth.

Mother's eyes were wide, reflecting the last traces of blue light.

"W-What just happened…?"

No one answered.

Because no one knew.

And I—

I just smiled innocently.

"See? It's full now."

Then suddenly a familiar black, semi-transparent screen appeared in front of me.

Solaris blinked in confusion, still trying to process what had just occurred.

That he noticed—no one else could see this screen but he!

---

Mother stared at me, her thoughts racing.

Is he really producing enough mana so casually… enough to make that monstrous seal disappear?

She masked her shock behind a calm expression and spoke carefully.

"It seems you're already acquainted with that tattoo of yours.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened, is it?

Tell me—when did you get that tattoo?"

I shifted his focus to Mother— scratched my head, a little embarrassed.

"Um… as far as I can remember, it's always been there.

But something inside me keeps saying that this tattoo is important.

Like… if it gets hungry, I just need to feed it mana.

So honestly, it never bothered me much."

I continued, trying to explain my logic.

"I've seen you perform magic. Different circles appear, different marks, different patterns.

So I just thought… having one on my body was normal too."

Mother looked at me as if I had said something unbelievable.

"Normal?!"

I straightened my back proudly.

"Yeah—normal.

See? I knew I was right."

She opened her mouth to argue.

"That's not what I meant—!"

Then she pressed a hand to her forehead, as if surrendering to an incoming headache.

"Ugh… never mind. It's nothing."

I tilted my head.

"By the way… where is Father?"

Scene Shift — A Dark Room

The air was cold and heavy.

In a dim chamber lit only by a dying candle, someone sat curled up in the corner.

Arms wrapped around his legs, body squeezed tight—as if trying to hold himself together.

It was Lord Alistair Void.

The proud, unshakable lord that the world knew was nowhere to be seen.

Instead, there was only a broken father.

His face was twisted with pure horror.

His fingers trembled as they clutched his clothes.

He kept whispering to himself, voice cracking with pain—

"My boy…

what happened to my charming, cute little boy…?

My baby Solaris…

what happened to you…?!"

His breathing grew heavier.

His eyes darkened as a buried memory slowly clawed its way back.

He thought—

That day in the forest…

⭐Explain

The seal on Solaris's chest was created by Solaris himself when he was only three days old.

It was forged under the Omni authority, designed to contain and suppress the overwhelming presence of his own Omni essence. But this seal is no ordinary artifact—it is a living entity, a sentient construct, and it calls itself Oblivient.

Its primary function is to restrain Solaris's power, protecting his fragile body while suppressing the true force within him. That true power lies not only in strength, but in his memory—his past, the life he once lived as the Omni Devil. To maintain control, Oblivient continuously consumes Solaris's memories—the fragments that connect him to his previous life—so that he remains safe, unaware of the full extent of his power.

However, Oblivient has a critical limitation. It cannot strengthen or evolve on its own. Solaris, being the reincarnation of the Omni Devil, naturally grows stronger every day, whether he intends to or not. When his latent powers surge—triggered by serious events, extreme emotion, or a brush with his past self—the growth of his abilities can be exponential.

At this point, the seal approaches its breaking point. The only way Oblivient can survive such a surge is by absorbing mana of divine caliber, which allows it to reinforce its structure and contain Solaris's power. Crucially, the seal cannot draw Solaris's mana without permission—it must be willingly fed.

The seal has two visible thresholds that indicate it is nearing its limits:

Yellow Alert – when Solaris's power grows so much that the seal struggles to contain him, it glows yellow.

Red Alert – if something triggers Solaris's past self and he becomes dangerously serious, the seal turns red.

If the seal remains unfed during these stages, the yellow warning can escalate to red over time. Beyond that, the seal risks complete failure. Should that happen, Solaris himself faces the possibility of death—or at the very least, catastrophic damage to his body.

In essence, Oblivient is both a guardian and a time bomb—protecting Solaris while constantly walking the line between containment and catastrophe.
