On the coast of Fishing Village Port,
the sun had not yet fully set, and under the glow of the evening light, the beach shimmered in a sheet of gold.
The sea, polluted by blood, glittered with rippling waves—terrifying, like a sea of blood straight out of purgatory.
Lynn ordered his men to strip any intact armor from the pirates' corpses.
Looking at the bodies scattered chaotically across the beach,
Lynn felt that gathering enough basic defensive equipment for the remaining soldiers of the Explosive Troop would not be much of a problem.
At this moment,
the OB knights from White Harbor, having witnessed the entire battle, arrived before the gates of Fishing Village Port's fortress and knocked loudly.
Someone shouted out:
"Report to your lord—roving knights of House Manderly request an audience with your master!"
Maester Hill lowered his head, looking down at the knights beneath the walls.
Their armor gleamed silver, even their helmets looking carefully polished, bright and spirited.
"Lord Lynn, should we let them in?" The old maester shook off the intoxication of victory and asked hesitantly.
Lynn nodded indifferently and patted the battlements.
"We have no other choice. Only by drawing in and stabilizing the White Harbor people can we seize the Three Sisters without worries."
Old Hill said in confusion, "But my lord, haven't you always been unwilling to pay taxes and military service?"
"Of course. And before this, I only had a dozen guards. Paying military service would've turned me into a commander without troops."
"My lord…" The old maester misunderstood Lynn's meaning, thinking Lynn intended to submit taxes and military service this time.
If before, Old Hill's stance had been to support paying taxes in exchange for the protection of White Harbor's 'Eel' family,
then now,
after seeing the White Harbor knights coldly stand aside and watch the life-and-death battle at Fishing Village Port,
the selfish and indifferent behavior enraged the old maester, causing him to completely change his position.
The peace faction had now become the war faction.
Guard Captain Hood was no kinder toward the White Harbor men—especially since among those knights was an old acquaintance.
A knight who had once looked down on him, always mocking his appearance from a position of superiority.
That man was now outside the city gates, mounted on a spirited warhorse, raising his head with a half-smile as he looked on.
Lynn cut off the old maester's words. "We didn't pay before because we were too weak. We still won't pay now, because I truly have no money."
He was so poor he didn't even have a single copper coin left.
Lynn complained silently in his heart.
Out loud, he said to Hood, "You handle these people. The greatest goodwill Fishing Village Port can offer is the spoils we captured. We can give them a portion in place of taxes and service."
Talking about money hurt feelings. Lynn had no desire whatsoever to personally meet these knights. If his strength were sufficient to let him act without restraint, he would have even considered ordering the guards on the walls to give these OB players a wave of arrow fire.
Thinking about how mature and big-picture-minded he was being,
Lynn felt a surge of frustration in his chest. He flicked his sleeve and left the battlements.
His Explosive Troop's wounded still needed treatment and care.
Once the war began, and the Explosive Troop started to suffer casualties,
the system presented new options.
The Explosive Troop Shop!
Lynn returned to the manor and finally had time to open the system menu. He found the newly added Explosive Troop Shop tab and began browsing it carefully.
[Explosive Troop System Shop]
Lynn skimmed through it and discovered the shop was divided into three major categories.
[Heroes of Might and Magic Blacksmith Shop, Beauties Everywhere Medical Center, Warcraft Pet Explosion Rally]
The items sold in the Blacksmith Shop were different from the armor exchanged with points. Everything here was BUFF-type items and weapons.
For example:
Infantry General's Command Saber — increases Infantry General Command Presence by 10%
Archer General's Command Sword — increases Archer General Command Charm by 10%
Silver Bull Command Horn — an item that strikes fear into enemies; compared to an ordinary iron horn, the majesty and dominance of the horn blast is increased by at least 10%
Charm value? Majesty and dominance value? These item effects were downright outrageous. What made him want to spit blood even more was how outrageous the prices were. The cheapest items—the Commander's Boots, which greatly increase a commander's enthusiasm for retreating (for use when fleeing after defeat), and the Weapon Whetstone, which makes weapons silky-smooth for ten uses—were both priced at 50 points.
Most other items cost over 200 points. The most expensive unlocked item in the Blacksmith Shop, the Silver Bull Command Horn, cost a staggering 600 points—and it was single-use.
They all looked incredibly powerful, with that unmistakable vibe of Shattrath's legendary rare-item merchant.
Lynn really wanted to try buying a pair of escape boots, but when he saw the bright red number at the top of the shop—
Current Available Points: 0
—the corner of his mouth twitched uncontrollably.
As for the Beauties Everywhere Medical Center and the Warcraft Pet Explosion Rally, he couldn't be bothered to look at them in detail. With zero assets, he wasn't qualified to browse Taobao.
Night drew near.
Lynn walked to the training grounds and stepped up onto the wooden platform.
Rodat and Harry Kane led a group of men holding torches as they followed him up the steps, all of them filthy, armor dented, yet laughing nonstop.
Behind them, two soldiers dragged along a man—disheveled, thick-bearded, his body smeared with layers of dried blood.
Lynn stopped at the center of the wooden platform. Below him stood a neatly arranged line of Explosive Troop soldiers.
The soldiers shoved the captive man up onto the platform as well.
"Pirate leader," Rodat said loudly.
The captive struggled to lift his head, licked his cracked lips, and answered, "Biter King, Sti."
This was the judgment of the victor over the defeated—the pirate leader understood that well.
He knelt honestly.
There was a deep wound on his head, blood flowing down his face. In the torchlight of the night, it looked like black asphalt.
"My lord, I am willing to offer ransom," Sti said through clenched teeth.
A disdainful curve lifted the corner of Lynn's mouth.
"Sir, I do not need your ransom. I only need you to tell me where all the treasure you plundered is hidden on the Three Sisters."
Sti's face darkened slightly. The young lord before him was unexpectedly greedy.
He sneered. "My lord, I'm afraid you won't find even a single gold dragon on the islands."
"What a pity," Lynn said coldly.
"Shall we kill him, my lord? The Explosive Troop will dig the islands three feet deep for you," Harry Kane tried asking. "Cut off this offender's head."
"No." Lynn waved his hand and gripped the Valyrian dagger at his waist. "He's more useful alive. I plan to send him to White Harbor, have their ships take him to the Dreadfort. I hear the flayers have been short on population lately because of the war."
"No!" This time it was Sti, the pirate king of Bite Bay, who cried out in refusal. His body trembled as he lowered his once-raised head and said through gritted teeth, "My lord, I'm willing to offer all my treasure—just let me live."
"You're a smart man, so you know you're dead for sure. Still, since you're offering your treasure, I'll have someone give you a sea burial," Lynn said calmly.
Hearing this, the man's lips trembled for a moment, but he said nothing.
"Take him away. Put him in shackles—don't let my honored guest escape," Lynn ordered.
"Arrange proper care for the wounded. Rodat, have your men rest well tonight. At first light tomorrow, board the ships and set out for the Three Sisters. Remember to distribute the seized armor."
Lynn continued issuing orders unhurriedly.
"Also, be sure to post extra patrols outside Fishing Village Port tonight. Any ravens from the White Harbor people that fly out of the city—shoot them all down. News from here must not spread for now."
If those OB knights tried to demand an outrageous share because of Lynn's spoils,
then among the sea of corpses waiting outside Fishing Village Port to be washed away by the morning tide, there would be no harm in adding a few more bodies.
