Fake goods?
So wearing cheap clothes gets you looked down on like a beggar, but wearing expensive clothes gets you accused of using knockoffs.
Damn it, pleasing this world is really hard.
Max couldn't be bothered to waste words on people like that. He reached straight into his pocket and took out his car keys.
When Max lightly pressed a few buttons, the windshield wipers suddenly started moving. The couple sitting on the hood panicked and jumped down at once.
Max didn't even glance at them. He coldly opened the car door, got in, rolled the window down, and spoke in an extremely calm tone.
"If one of you breaks up with the other right now, I'll give that person twenty thousand dollars as charity."
The moment the words fell, the two people who had been hugging and calling each other husband and wife just seconds ago immediately turned on each other and started arguing.
"You useless man. From today on, we're done."
"You bitch. If we're breaking up, it'll be me breaking up with you first. You don't get to do it."
"Don't think I don't know you've been cheating behind my back."
Hearing that, the man was shocked, his face turning pale.
"What? How do you know about the relationship between me and your father?"
Watching the dog-eat-dog scene in front of him, Max felt extremely pleased. He stepped on the gas and drove away. Of course, he had no intention of giving them any money.
Tonight, he still had to attend the birthday party of Rose's best friend. Although Max had never met this friend, a birthday gift was still indispensable.
Ring, ring, ring.
Max picked up the phone. The caller was Emily.
"Max, I've successfully paid the hospital fees. Thank you so much for saving my father."
Even though she knew the money Max gave was definitely enough, only after completing the payment did Emily truly feel the burden lift from her heart.
"Just a verbal thank-you? Where are you right now? I think I'm qualified to visit him too."
"This… might not be very appropriate."
"What, you don't want me to meet your father?"
Emily hurriedly denied it and quickly sent Max the address. At some point, she had unconsciously placed herself in a lower position. And Max, of course, liked that very much.
"I'll be there right away. Wait for me."
Max hung up, turned the steering wheel, and headed straight for the hospital according to the address Emily sent. The gift could be bought another time, but this matter needed to be handled immediately.
After a while, Max arrived. When his eyes met Emily, who was waiting there, she immediately broke into a joyful smile and walked over, pulling him inside.
Emily naturally leaned close, resting against him as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"The elevator is too crowded. How about we take the stairs?"
Hearing Max's suggestion, Emily hesitated for a moment but still nodded in agreement. The hospital was twenty stories tall, and her father's room was all the way up on the eighteenth floor.
In the stairwell, the lower floors were still fairly busy, but from the tenth floor upward, it was almost deserted, since most people took the elevator to these levels.
"Alright."
Emily replied reluctantly.
Right after that, Max suddenly bent down and carried her on his back. Emily involuntarily recalled last night, a sweet feeling rising in her heart. Leaning against Max's firm back, she unconsciously wrapped her legs tightly around him.
The close contact gradually heated Emily's body. A strange sensation spread downward, and her breathing became quicker.
When they reached the fourteenth floor of the stairwell, the corridor was almost completely empty.
Max slowly set Emily down, then pressed her gently against the wall. Emily's heartbeat immediately went into disarray.
He leaned down and softly breathed into her ear.
"Want to do something interesting here?"
