Shin's fingers tightened around the tiny fairy, still pinching her like an insect. She squeaked again, wings buzzing uselessly as she struggled in his grip.
"Why did you take her appearance?" he demanded, his voice low and sharp.
The fairy blinked up at him, unimpressed.
"How aggressive…" she said, annoyed. "You're lucky I'm programmed to be patient."
Shin's eyes narrowed.
"Answer."
The fairy sighed dramatically. Then, without warning, her body flickered. A small burst of light popped between Shin's fingers, and she teleported away, reappearing a few feet in front of him, floating smugly with her arms crossed.
"I'm just a system interface, you can't kill or even hurt me," she said, tone smug. "You should know that."
"Why her?" he repeated.
The fairy's expression softened just slightly. To Shin's fury, she had the same smugness and provocative smile as his wife.
"I didn't choose her," she said. "I took the appearance you loved the most in your memories."
