Chapter 19 - Bab 19

Miya and Roni entered the house, and coincidentally Miya's parents were sitting on the sofa.

"Pa, Ma, Miya's home," Miya greeted.

"Yes… where have you been?" her parents asked while looking at Roni, who was seen being held by Miya. Behind the jacket covering their hands, there were handcuffs binding them together.

"You two… Roni…?" Mr. Bram asked.

Roni was of course very embarrassed to be seen like that by Miya's father, whom he respected.

"He's the man Miya mentioned this morning, Pa… hehe," Miya said, informing him.

"Miya, what do you mean?" Roni asked, still not understanding.

"Just stay quiet. You just need to agree," Miya whispered.

Miya's father and mother did not expect that Miya liked Roni. It had never crossed their minds before that Roni was the one.

Miya pulled Roni toward her bedroom. Roni initially resisted, but Miya kept pulling him. How could he not? Miya was taking him into her bedroom together right in front of her parents.

"Miya, my God, what are you doing! What if they think something inappropriate?" Roni said worriedly.

"So what? Haven't we already done everything? You don't need to be embarrassed," Miya said.

"Yes, but that… My God, Miya, your father is my boss! I'd be embarrassed," Roni said.

"Pa, isn't that Roni, the one who manages our warehouse?" Serli, Miya's mother, asked outside.

"Yes, that's Roni. I can't believe they're in a relationship. And all this time Miya changed because of him. But why didn't Roni ever say he was close to Miya? He's a good kid too, it's not a problem if Miya chose him," said Mr. Bram.

It turned out Mr. Bram had no problem with Miya being with Roni. He also knew Roni as a good and honest young man. He just didn't expect that the quiet young man he knew could make Miya cheerful and affectionate again. Meanwhile, he and his wife had tried everything but failed to bring Miya back to her old cheerful self.

Inside the bedroom, after Miya unlocked the handcuffs, Roni immediately went out to meet Mr. Bram.

"Sir… I'm sorry, earlier it wasn't like what you thought. Please don't misunderstand," Roni said, trying to explain.

Meanwhile, Miya just folded her arms in front of her chest while standing at the stairs, watching Roni's funny behavior.

"What are you explaining, Roni? Wasn't what happened earlier already clear enough?" Mr. Bram said.

"That… that was just me escorting Miya home, but she asked me to go up to her room. So, uh…"

Mr. Bram almost laughed at Roni's excuse, especially seeing how embarrassed he looked.

"You're not angry, Sir, right? I know my place, Sir. I'm just from a village, I don't have anything. How could I be Miya's partner the way you want?" Roni said while lowering his head.

"Roni, do you think I'm angry that you're with my daughter? Don't misunderstand. We also came from a village, just like you. So I don't forbid your relationship. Especially since Miya chose you herself. I just didn't expect you to be close to Miya, my daughter. Before this, I only knew you as Bobi's friend. Bobi liking you as his friend alone already represents my judgment of who you are," Mr. Bram said.

Roni was stunned hearing that. He thought Mr. Bram would be angry and fire him for daring to approach his daughter.

Miya, who was watching from upstairs, smiled sweetly at her father for approving her choice of Roni. However, she still hadn't received a statement from Roni.

"Do you love my daughter?" Mr. Bram asked, making Roni confused about what to answer. He had never thought about love, because all his love was for Ayu back in the village.

"Uh…" that was all that came out of Roni's mouth because he didn't know what to say. If he said no, he was afraid Miya would be hurt, especially now that her parents had no problem with his closeness to Miya.

"No need to answer. I know you're embarrassed. Seeing you with her, I already know the answer. And I don't have a problem with it. I only ask one thing: don't make my daughter disappointed or sad. Take care of her for me, just as you have taken care of my trust when I entrusted you with managing my business," Mr. Bram said, making Roni even more cornered. He was truly trapped now.

"Why are you silent? Are you still embarrassed? Come on, no need to be embarrassed anymore. Where you come from or whether you're poor or not doesn't matter to me. As long as my daughter is comfortable and happy with you, I entrust Miya to you," Mr. Bram said with great confidence in Roni.

"I'm doomed… now I'm trapped even deeper. What should I do now?" Roni said in his heart.

For some reason, Roni felt extremely lucky in the city. So many people liked him, even though he was just a poor village boy. Even someone as rich as Mr. Bram trusted him to manage his business, and now entrusted him to take care of Miya, their daughter.

Unlike in the village, Roni was always insulted, mocked, and hated by the young men there, just because he was liked by Ayu, the village flower whom all the young men desired.

"Sometimes, this kind of luck is what makes many people hate me or envy me. Where there is a poor young man living alone who can be liked by the most beautiful girl in his village, and now liked and trusted by a rich person, and even his daughter," Roni muttered.

Roni finally understood where the hatred from those who disliked him came from. It was purely because they were jealous of him.

"Mom, Dad, even though you didn't leave Roni any inheritance, Roni is still happy and grateful to be your child. I believe this luck is your blessing. Even though sometimes this luck makes Roni hated by many people, now Roni understands it all. I miss you, Mom, Dad…" Roni said in his heart.

Somehow, after gaining Miya's father's trust to manage their business and protect their daughter—something Roni thought would make them angry—it turned out to be the opposite. Roni realized that the luck he received was purely due to the good prayers of his parents in the past.

However, Roni was now confused about what to do. Would he marry Miya in the future? But what about Ayu whom he loved back in the village? He couldn't betray Ayu, who had always been kind and accompanied him through hardship and happiness. If he left Miya, how hateful would Miya and her parents be, who now trusted him so much?

"Ayu… what should I do now?" Roni asked in his heart.

"Why are you still standing there daydreaming? From now on, you don't need to be embarrassed or awkward with me anymore," Mr. Bram said when he saw Roni standing absentmindedly.

"Sorry, Sir. I just didn't expect you to trust me, when you don't really know me that well," Roni said.

"Isn't one year enough for me to know you? Seeing the rapid progress of my business thanks to you, is that still not enough for me to trust you? From now on, don't ask questions like that anymore," Mr. Bram replied with a smile.

Serli approached Miya and pulled her hand to talk privately, leaving Roni and Mr. Bram alone.

"What is it, Ma…?" Miya asked as her hand was pulled into the bedroom.

"Mom wants to ask, are you still a virgin?" Serli asked.

Hearing her mother's question, especially about that, made Miya embarrassed to answer.

"Uh… if Miya is no longer a virgin, how? Would Mama be angry?" Miya replied, asking back to make sure whether her mother would be angry or not.

"No. Mama just wants to know whether you're still a virgin or not," Serli said.

"Miya… Miya is not anymore, Ma," Miya replied shyly.

"My God! Since when, and when did it happen?" her mother asked.

"Since the day Miya first met Roni. Why, Ma?" Miya replied.

"Did you sleep with him right after you met him? Even Mama took a long time knowing your father before losing her virginity, but you're so fast," her mother said.

"Well, no wonder. He's handsome too. The only downside is he's not rich. But even so, if Mama were you, Mama would probably do the same," her mother added.

"Don't tell me Mama likes Roni too?" Miya asked, suddenly jealous of her mother's words.

"Of course not. How could Mama steal her daughter's lover? Mama likes it if he becomes Mama's son-in-law. Mama would surely have handsome, cute, and beautiful grandchildren," her mother said with a smile, imagining it.

"My God, Mama! I thought it was something important," Miya said, pouting.

"Why are you pouting? Isn't that important too, dear? Oh yes, just a small reminder from Mama, you have to be careful. A man that handsome will surely have many women who like and want him, just like you do. Especially since he seems quiet and obedient. It could be that one day he'll be taken by someone else," her mother added.

"Mama is too much. Hopefully not, Ma. No matter what happens, Miya will not accept being taken away. Mama doesn't know that this is Miya's first time falling in love, and also the last," Miya said.

Serli stroked her daughter's hair, smiled, and kissed her forehead.

"Mama believes you will stay together. Seeing how good and polite he is, he doesn't seem like someone who would ever disappoint you," her mother said.

"Thank you, Ma, for everything. Including for your blessing in accepting Roni. Miya doesn't care if he's poor or has nothing, as long as he's with Miya, that's enough," Miya said with a smile.

They then went out together. Miya approached Roni and pulled his hand.

"Pa, Miya is borrowing Roni for a moment. There's something Miya wants to talk about with him," she said while pulling Roni's hand, bringing him into the bedroom and locking the door from inside.

"Hey… just pulling him in like that, right in front of your parents. Hey, you're not allowed to do that yet!" her father shouted while shaking his head.

"Come on, Pa. Maybe they're just talking," Serli said, calming her husband.

"There's no way it's just talking if they're in a bedroom like that. There must be more," he said.

"More like what?"

"You know what I mean, why ask?" he said emotionally, though it didn't last long because Serli teased him flirtatiously.

Inside the bedroom, Roni pulled his hand away from Miya and said, "Miya, why are you doing this? Aren't you embarrassed in front of your parents? What if they think strange things, especially since we went into the room," Roni said.

"No, I'm not embarrassed. You forgot that I'm their spoiled daughter, so I won't be scolded even if I pull you into the room. Besides, what's there to be embarrassed about? We've done it many times already," Miya replied casually.

"Miya… I want to ask, you're being this aggressive, aren't you afraid that someday I'll disappoint you and be with another woman?" Roni asked.

"Roni, I know your nature. After this one year, I know you very well. If I'm not like this, then you won't do anything unless a woman dares to take the initiative first. I don't care whether you love me right now or not, I'll still force you to be with me. If you choose another woman, it's fine, as long as I'm also among you. I'm ready," Miya said confidently.

Hearing that, Roni choked and coughed.

He couldn't believe finding a woman like Miya, and he also didn't expect Miya to be like this. In the past, Miya was quiet and shy, but she had turned into a very brave and aggressive woman. If only Mbak Maya were also like this, then Mbak Maya would surely have Roni completely. Unfortunately, that didn't apply to Mbak Maya, who kept waiting for Roni's sensitivity.

Unlike Miya, who immediately understood Roni's nature. If no one took the initiative first, then there would be no certainty from him. Especially since Roni was the type who tended to be unable to refuse when seduced.

"Sorry, Roni, I have to love you recklessly. Because if I don't do it like this, I won't get you. You're too considerate of others," Miya said.
