Minnie pov
I don't know what happened to me suddenly I felt nervous. I took a deep breath and made sure it didn't show on my face as that guy stepped forward to order.
"Welcome to XXX Café, how can I help you sir ?" I said, trying to sound normal.
"Uh... I need one Americano and a chocolate cookie," he replied, and the moment I heard his voice, my heart skipped a beat. What a voice, oh my God, I thought to myself. "Sure, sir. That will be 300 rupees," I said with a small smile. He paid, smiled back, and I asked him to take a seat, telling him his coffee would be ready soon. On the outside I was just doing my job, but inside my heart was racing for no clear reason at all.
He went and sat at a table on my right side, scrolling through his phone. My heart was racing for no reason, and I placed my hand near my chest, trying to calm myself. What is happening to me? This has never happened before.
Maya: "Whoa, hold on-why are you breathing like you just ran a marathon? All this after taking one hot guy's order?" I said and look that the guy
Minnie: I'm fine, Maya. Stop staring at me like that. (I look away.)
Maya: "Fine? Minnie, your heart is about to jump out and order coffee for itself" I Laugh.
Minnie: "What nonsense! I don't feel anything. You're imagining things" I smile nervously.
Maya: Oh really? Then why are you smiling like that, huh? Face it, girl-you have a crush.
Minnie: No! Don't say that so loudly. What if he hears you?
Maya: "Aha! There it is" I rolled my eyes
"OMG, Minnie... this is serious. Finally, the ice queen has a heartbeat"
Minnie: Just shut up and serve the order.
Maya: Okay, okay, I'll go.
heard another customer calling me, so I smiled and took their orders one by one, pretending everything was normal. But suddenly, a strange chill ran through my body, as if someone was calling me without words. I turned to my right and froze-he was staring at me. Our eyes locked, time slowing down in that moment, and he calmly took a sip of his coffee while my heart forgot how to beat properly. I quickly looked away, my breath uneven, and continued working, telling myself to focus. Yet no matter how hard I tried, my heart kept racing, and I had to fight every second not to look at my right side again, afraid of what I might feel if our eyes met once more.
Will Pov
It was so boring staying inside the house, so I decided to go out for a walk. If I were in the office, at least I would be busy, but now the silence only made the boredom worse. After reaching Chennai, we first stayed at Shankar uncle's house and spent a day there. As my mom mentioned, my uncle had a daughter. She spent most of her time around me, asking questions again and again. I tried to ignore her, replying with just one-word answers, but she didn't give up. I felt frustrated, yet I controlled myself because she was my uncle's daughter and my mom wouldn't like it if I behaved rudely.
After a few days, we stayed at home and went shopping. Feeling restless, I went out for a walk and noticed a coffee shop that looked good from the outside. I thought of having a coffee and went in. I liked the ambience-it was calm and relaxing. At the billing counter, a girl asked what I wanted to order. I asked for an Americano and a chocolate cookie. She smiled and said it was 300 rupees. I smiled back, paid the amount, took a seat at one of the tables, and started using my phone.
received my order and took a slow sip of the
coffee-it tasted really good, warm and comforting. I tried the chocolate cookie next, and it was just as perfect. As I continued drinking, my eyes kept drifting back to the girl at the billing counter. She smiled while taking orders, but it felt like she was hiding something behind that smile. When I looked into her eyes, I sensed a quiet sadness, as if she was carrying something she never spoke about. Suddenly, she turned toward me and for a brief second our eyes met. At that moment, the noise of the café faded, and I felt an unexpected pull toward her, a strange feeling I couldn't explain. I took another sip of my coffee to hide my nervousness as she looked away and returned to her work, leaving my heart slightly heavier and my thoughts completely lost in her smile.
What is happening to me? I questioned myself as I finished my coffee, forcing my thoughts back into control. I placed the cup on the table, took one last glance at her, and quietly walked out of the coffee shop, carrying a feeling I didn't understand but couldn't ignore either.
