Chapter 52 - Vol. 2 – Chapter 36: Brother and Sister (Bonus - End)

"!!!"

The sudden, unfamiliar voice startled everyone in the port village.

"Who the hell was that?"

Musshuru and Wapol, their mood ruined, turned angrily toward the source of the voice—only to realize that at some point, a stranger had appeared among their guards. He wore a black-and-red cloak and had striking red hair.

The guards were caught off guard. They quickly raised their weapons, aiming at the man.

But the man didn't even glance at them. His eyes were fixed on two figures—one large, one small—lying in the blood-soaked snow.

The boy looked slightly older than Yemu, probably around seventeen or eighteen.

The girl looked much younger, about twelve.

Judging from what they had just said, they seemed to be siblings.

At that moment, the boy was shielding his sister with his own body, having taken the full brunt of the earlier beating. His body was in a terrible state. Bright red blood streamed down from his forehead, dripping slowly onto the snow, melting it where it fell.

The white-haired girl, however, looked far worse. No—based on Yemu's Observation Haki, she likely only had a few days left. Her life force was so faint, like a candle flickering in the wind, it could go out at any second. And in this frozen environment, her face had turned deathly pale.

Just then, as if he had heard Yemu's voice, the blood-soaked boy weakly lifted his head. With swollen, bloodshot eyes, he glanced at Yemu and used the last of his strength to speak.

"Please... save my sister..."

With that, he collapsed into the snow, clutching his sister tightly as he lost consciousness.

Musshuru, the crown prince, scoffed at the pitiful sight of the two commoners. Then, turning to Yemu, he sneered.

"Hey, who are you? Where'd you come from? How dare you not bow before a prince!"

But Yemu suddenly smiled.

"You said it earlier, didn't you? If someone gives you 100 million Berries, you'll have the doctor save them."

Musshuru froze. He had been about to snap in annoyance, but looking at the two wretched commoners, a twisted thought seemed to cross his mind.

"Not in that state. A hundred million Berries won't cut it now."

"Oh? Then how much do you want?"

"Five hundred million Berries. For that, I'll have my father's doctor save their lives..."

"Just save them? What if I want them fully cured? How much for that...?"

At that moment, a sinister gleam appeared in young Musshuru's eyes—far too malicious for a child his age. Then he named a figure no one would believe.

"Two billion Berries. If you can bring me two billion, I'll make sure they're cured."

"Really? What if they're not?"

"Impossible. My father's doctor is the best in the entire Drum Kingdom. There's no illness he can't treat. If he fails... you can do whatever you want."

"I see. Then the deal's done. I'll send over two billion Berries shortly. Now go get your father's doctor. If they die before that, you're not getting a single Berry."

"What?! You seriously have two billion Berries?"

"Of course. I'll have someone bring it right away."

Musshuru stared at the man, stunned. He didn't quite believe it—two billion Berries was no small amount—but his greed quickly overrode his doubts.

"Fine. I'll call my father's doctor right now. But if I don't see the money... you'll pay with your life."

"No problem..."

Musshuru pulled a pink Den Den Mushi from his coat, but no matter how many times he pressed the intercom button, the snail didn't respond—it seemed to be asleep. Enraged, Musshuru threw it to the ground and shouted.

"Useless thing! You! Go to the royal palace!"

...

In the royal palace of the Drum Kingdom...

Dalton, the captain of the king's guard, knelt before the throne, reporting the recent actions of the two princes.

"Your Majesty, the people are growing increasingly dissatisfied with the behavior of the princes. If this continues, I fear..."

The elderly king on the throne nodded gravely.

"I share your concern... but with those two children, I truly don't know what to do. Dalton, do you have any suggestions?"

"Well..."

Dalton hesitated. He knew the real issue, but even if he spoke up—would the king really change how he coddled his sons?

Just then, a guard burst into the hall.

"Your Majesty!"

"What is it?"

"Princes Musshuru and Wapol want to summon the royal physician to the port to treat two people."

"!!"

Both the king and Dalton were stunned. Knowing the princes' personalities, there was no way they would voluntarily have the royal physician treat anyone—let alone commoners. Something wasn't right.

"What exactly is going on?"

The king's tone turned harsh.

The attendant didn't dare hold anything back.

"Someone offered 2 billion Berries. That's why the princes..."

"!!"

Now they were truly shocked.

While the Drum Kingdom wasn't short on money and its national income was solid, even the king himself would struggle to produce 2 billion Berries on short notice. And yet someone had offered that much—just for treatment?

A sense of unease settled over the king. He instinctively looked toward Dalton.

Dalton understood and nodded.

"Understood, Your Majesty. I'll take some men and go check it out."

"Thank you, Dalton."

...

At the main road in the port village of the Drum Kingdom...

A crowd of villagers and soldiers had gathered, all drawn by the spectacle.

Right in the middle of the road stood a towering mountain of gold.

No matter what world you're in, gold is always gold. And in the world of pirates, it's even more valuable.

Everyone stared, eyes wide and fixed on the glittering pile.

The two princes stood in front of the gold, their eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.

"This is amazing... incredible... It's all mine! You lot, start hauling it back!"

"Wait, brother—I get a share too, right?"

"You fool! What are you talking about? This is all mine. And the rest of you—why are you standing there? Start moving it already!"

"Yes, sir!"

But just then, a towering figure stepped in front of them.

"Hey now... cash on delivery. You haven't cured them yet, have you?"

"Huh!? You filthy peasant, what did you just say—"

Musshuru, his mind filled only with gold, couldn't care less about the lives of those two commoners. At the sight of Yemu blocking his path, the insult came out without thinking.

But before he could finish his sentence, a cold gleam flashed before his eyes—and then the world around him spun.

"Huh... isn't that... my body?"
