Chapter 3 - III

Nyssa

"What happened?" Louis's voice rang out as he stepped inside.

My blood boiled as I heard his voice again. That voice that used to be my sanctuary. The voice that used to bring me peace, now brought me so much unrest and rage.

"Why did you have to leave so much missed calls?" He hissed as he set his suit aside. "Didn't Peter tell you I was busy?" He said as he took off his shoes. "You kept calling and so did Tanya."

The irritation in his voice was evident as he kept hissing as he spoke. His eyes looked around as if in search of someone.

"Where is Zoya?" He paused and turned in my direction. "Why don't I see her around?"

At the mention of my daughter's name, my head snapped. All hell let loose.

I stood up and grabbed his shirt. "Don't you dare say my daughter's name!"

I rained several slaps on him, pulling violently at his shirt. "You heartless monster!"

"What are you doing?" He grabbed my hands with one of his hands and he pushed me to the wall. "What has gotten into you?" He scoffed. "How dare you lay those filthy hands on me, your Alpha?" He muttered smugly as if being my Alpha made him my god.

Then as if he couldn't stand holding my hands in his, he shoved me aside and violently dropped my hands.

"I could have your hands mutilated!"

"Go ahead!" I yelled pushing strongly at his chest. "You're no Alpha to me. You're a monster. A heartless murderer!" I cried as I remembered how much my daughter yearned to see her father.

Tears cascaded down my eyes as I recalled how much my little angel had to suffer while her father was resting in the arms of his lover.

Louis shoved me aside with brutal force as he moved away. "Looks like you're high on something." He hissed. "Where is Zoya?" His eyes were searching now.

I could see a flash of worry and guilt in his brown eyes as he looked around, moving from one corner of the house to the other. "Why don't I see her around?"

His words cut deep into my already bleeding heart as realization again dawned on me that I was never going to see my daughter again.

Rage surged through me. I got up and went close to him, stopping just a few inches away from him.

If only I could just kill this monster.

"Because she gone..." I paused as more tears rained and my voice cracked. "Forever."

I turned and walked away because it was taking everything in me to stop myself from stabbing Louis right there.

"What do you mean gone," he yelled after me, but I ignored him and kept walking.

"I'm talking to you,Nyssa." He walked towards me in two long strides. "Where is my daughter?"

He grabbed my arm, and made me face him. He held so tightly that my arm ached, but that was nothing compared to the pain in my heart. I met his gaze without blinking.

"She's gone to a place you cannot hurt her anymore!"

His frown deepened and his brow creased in frustration. He grabbed my neck and slammed me against the wall like I was the enemy.

"I will ask this one more time, Nyssa. Speak in parables again and I won't hesitate to snap your neck." He breathed through his mouth as if trying to keep calm. "Where is Zoya?" His voice was low now.

"She's dead," I whispered, tears strolling down my eyes. "She's gone. My baby's gone." I met his eyes. "I hope you're happy now?"

"What?" His hand loosened slightly around my neck then tightened again. "How could you say that about my child "

"Your child?" I let out a bitter laugh. "Isn't Bernice your perfect child? Didn't you make that clear already?"

"You're crazy," He hissed, his anger hightened. His eyes blared like he would kill me in no time. "Where. Is. My. Daughter?"

He squeezed my neck so hard I prayed it would snap. That way I would join my daughter, but Louis suddenly lets go as if irritated by the thought of getting his hands stained with my blood.

"Your daughter?" I scoffed, still coughing hard from the impact of his grip on my neck. "You lost the right to call her that the moment you refused to show up when she needed you."

My voice came out as a whisper, low and cracked from crying.

"No, it can't be," Louis shook his head and sat down. "So, all this fuss is just because I didn't show up for Zoya's birthday?" He undid his tie. "Alright, I promisemake it up to her next time, just call her."

I shut my eyes tight and tried to remove the images of my daughter as she struggled for breath. How she stiffened when she heard that her father was resting and not to be disturbed when she was in the hospital.

"How do you intend to make it up to her?" I bit down on my tongue to keep me from screaming. "You couldn't even keep your own promise to her on her birthday. How on earth can you make it up to her now!"

He didn't respond. My words meant nothing to him.

"Just call Zoya," he repeated.

If only it was that simple.

If only I could just call her back, then I will take her far away from Louis and all the people that hurt her.

I opened my bag and brought out the death certificate. "You can try calling her yourself." I threw the certificate on his lap.

His eyes widened and he jumped. His hand went straight to his face as he read through the certificate.

"Where were you, Louis?" I couldn't hold back anymore. "Our daughter needed blood ...your blood, where were you? When she was calling out your name hoping you'd show up and hold her, where were you?"

"Why didn't you call me?" He muttered in a low voice. "Why didn't you inform me that she was sick?"

"You said you weren't to be disturbed. Didn't Peter tell you?" I hissed and turned my back to him. "And when she called you herself. Your precious little daughter answered and said you were resting."

I turned to him and wiped my tears. "You were resting in the arms of your lover when our daughter was fighting for her life!"

"Don't!" He yelled. "Do not bring them into this!"

"And why shouldn't I?" I stood on my toes to match his height. Staring deep into his eyes.

I refuse to be intimidated.

"You were busy playing Daddy with another man's daughter while your own child died calling out to you!"

He scoffed and pinched his glabella. My words probably hit a nerve.

"You were busy resting in Annie's embrace while your daughter's blood ran dry." I laughed bitterly. "Don't you deserve the father of the year award?"

Louis grabbed my neck this time with more violence.

"Don't you dare pin this on us!" He gritted his teeth. He grabbed my hair with his other hand. "It isn't my fault Zoya died nor is it Annie's or Bernice's." He hissed, his lips curled up in rage. "If anyone is to blame then it's you. You alone, Nyssa."

My knees gave out at his words. Louis released his grip on me and I fell to the ground, so hard that my knees bled.

It's my fault my baby died? How could he say that?

"It's your fault that you suck at everything, Nyssa." Louis hissed. He was radiating so much rage that his eyes could melt a rock at the moment.

"You can't cook. You can't fuck. You couldn't even take care of your daughter, yet you blame it on others." He grabbed my hair and made me look up at him.

"You're not just pathetic, Nyssa. You're worthless, Wolfless and useless!" He curled his lip in disgust. "You're a loser! A goddess damned loser!"
