Chapter 2 - 2 Awakening of the Martial Soul

Approaching, Lin Nuo gently pushed Xiao Wu away from his arms, ignoring the sullen expression she wore as she stared at him. Full of anticipation, he asked Meiying, "Mom, did everything go well?"

Meiying nodded with a smile, extending her delicate hand to stroke Lin Nuo's head. "The awakening stones for Spiritual Awakening have been found. We can awaken your spirit today."

In truth, Lin Nuo could have awakened his Spirit several months ago, but he insisted on not going to the Hall of Spirits.

That's because Lin Nuo had a slight feeling that his Spirit might not be so simple. Before he had enough strength to protect himself, he didn't want to get involved with any faction. As for his earlier desire to leave, it was only to avoid Bibi Dong.

After all, that woman had gone mad. Whether she herself wanted to go mad or the God Rakshasa wanted her to go mad, Lin Nuo had no desire to provoke a madwoman driven to madness by love.

As for Tang San, forget about him. That guy was always talking about "courting death." He didn't match Lin Nuo's soul at all—a soul born under the red flag, nurtured in the spring breeze, and christened by the 21st century.

With these scattered thoughts in mind, Lin Nuo assumed the awakening formation.

By infusing her spiritual power, Meiying caused the formation to emit a shimmering glow. Seeing this, she finally breathed a sigh of relief. After all, she herself had created everything; thankfully, everything went well, without any accidents.

The light quickly intensified, enveloping Lin Nuo completely.

Even the usually cheerful and active Xiao Wu held her breath, her large, beautiful eyes fixed on Lin Nuo amidst the brightness.

Inside the formation, Lin Nuo felt his body warm up, as if he had entered the warm embrace of his mother.

Suddenly, waves of heat erupted from the depths of his body and soul, rapidly flooding his arms.

"Buzzing!..."

The light suddenly became blinding, and the two people and the two animals nearby instinctively closed their eyes.

As the light gradually faded, a pearl, gleaming like a treasure, appeared in Lin Nuo's left hand. In his right hand, a rod emerged that appeared to be neither metal nor wood, resembling a table leg.

This scene caused Meiying and the others to widen their eyes in disbelief.

After a long time, Meiying finally snapped out of her trance. She looked at Lin Nuo with a complex expression, but smiled and said, "I didn't expect Xiao Nuo to actually have soulmates. Congratulations, Xiao Nuo."

"Thank you, Mother," Lin Nuo said, but his gaze did not leave the pearl in his left hand. This pearl had been given to him in his previous life, on the Blue Star, by an old man he had saved, although he didn't know why it had disappeared afterward.

At the time, Lin Nuo didn't care much, but he never expected to see that again in another world.

Xiao Wu leaned forward, pointed to the "table leg" in Lin Nuo's right hand, and said with a smile, "Xiao Linzi, what kind of Spirit is that? It can't really be a table leg, can it?"

"I'm not sure," Lin Nuo replied, shaking his head. Then he closed his eyes to carefully process the information about the Spirits in his mind.

After a long time, Lin Nuo opened his eyes, incredulous.

These two Spirits of his were practically of divine level. The one he held in his left hand was called the Pearl of the Myriad Beasts and possessed only one ability: Command of the Myriad Beasts.

Within the pearl of myriad beasts lay an infinite space with an environment perfectly suited for the cultivation of various beasts. Once inside, they would be bound by a binding contract. Of course, this contract was fair—it was like providing a cultivation environment in exchange for fighting for it. Unless Lin Nuo died or the pearl of myriad beasts was destroyed, the life forms within it would not be affected in the slightest.

If Lin Nuo needed to fight, he could choose to force them or ask; if they didn't want to, they could refuse.

Furthermore, any beast that entered the pearl of myriad beasts could become the Spirit of Lin Nuo and inherit all the abilities of the Spirit Beast. These abilities could be exchanged at will; this was mandatory and did not require the consent of the Spirit Beast.

It is clear that the use of Spiritual Skills could not exceed its own limit. If Lin Nuo's cultivation was insufficient and he forced himself to use a powerful Spiritual Skill beyond its limit, at best, his spiritual power and mental strength would be depleted; at worst, his cultivation would be severely impaired, causing him to drop in level and compromising his foundation.

For example, if Lin Nuo only had level twenty spiritual power and wanted to activate the Spirit Beast Mastery skill, he would inevitably suffer an adverse reaction, as his spiritual power and mental strength would not be sufficient to withstand it.

In addition to the abilities mentioned above, there was also an exceptionally high-level skill: resurrection. He could resurrect Spirit Beasts that had signed a contract. With the exception of those that died of old age, as long as their souls entered the pearl of the myriad beasts, Lin Nuo could consume his own mental strength and spiritual power to restore them.

There was also an ability that Lin Nuo was reluctant to mention—an ability that could save lives: Invincibility plus Random Teleportation. Currently, this invincibility was capable of withstanding a full-force blow from a level ninety-nine Peak Douluo. However, this life-saving ability only applied to Spirit Beasts and was ineffective against humans.

As for the latter, it was literal: random teleportation. When faced with an overwhelming attack, he would be randomly teleported anywhere.

As for the second Spirit, it was called the secret celestial ruler of a hundred transformations. Its function could be explained in one sentence: transformation. It could transform into any Tool Spirit, and that Spirit could share and unleash abilities with the first Spirit.

After listening to Lin Nuo's presentation about his Spirits, Xiao Wu blinked his beautiful, large eyes and asked, surprised, "So you mean it's possible to equip Spirit Rings and unlock Spirit Skills without having to hunt any Spirit Beasts?"

"You could say that." Lin Nuo nodded firmly and then said seriously, "Even if I hadn't awakened those two Spirits, I wouldn't be willing to kill Spirit Beasts to obtain Spirit Rings."

He had the confidence necessary to achieve this. He was not like the Grand Master; his unparalleled imagination, coupled with his own practice and never-give-up spirit, was his greatest wealth in this life.

"Hmm, I believe you!" Xiao Wu nodded vehemently, her two fluffy rabbit ears wagging up and down with her movements. Combined with her pretty face, she looked exceptionally adorable.

"Very well, come here, Xiao Nuo. Let's test your spiritual power first and see how much innate spiritual strength you possess." Meiying handed over a crystal ball. This time, there was less complexity in her eyes and more joy.

Lin Nuo grabbed the crystal ball, and a suction force pulled it towards him. The next instant, with a bang, the crystal ball in his hand exploded into dust.

"To be..."

Upon seeing this, Meiying was momentarily speechless. Although the crystal ball he had given Lin Nuo could only detect up to level ten of innate spiritual power, this was simply an exaggeration. Could it be possible that Lin Nuo's innate spiritual power had reached level thirty?

However, she had to give up for now. Obtaining a crystal ball and awakening training had already cost Meiying a great deal of effort. Where should she go to get a higher-level crystal ball?

Lin Nuo's gaze lingered on the crystal fragments in his hand, lost in thought. He was certain that his innate spiritual power was, at most, level twenty, the same as Qian Renxue's, but it shouldn't have been so exaggerated as to shatter the crystal ball.

But then, what happened? Was it the result of his deliberate training, making his spiritual power denser than that of other Spiritual Masters of the same level?

Lin Nuo recalled that, three years ago, Meiying had given him a medicinal herb, saying that it could help him awaken his spiritual power sooner.

At three and a half years old, his memories had partially awakened, and he knew that this was the World of the Continent of Douluo, a novel he had read in his previous life.

He had undergone special training in his spiritual power and mental strength, exhausting them daily and then allowing them to recover slowly.

It's clear that Lin Nuo had been practicing this in secret. If Meiying knew, she wouldn't be as surprised as she is now...
