Chapter 15 - unbothered

Jay's POV

I wasn't jealous.

I refused to be jealous.

Keifer laughing across the hall? Not my problem. That girl touching his arm? Couldn't care less. The way he kept glancing in my direction?

Irrelevant.

At least that's what I told myself as I walked into the washroom with a smirk.

If this was a challenge, I was winning.

I washed my hands slowly, staring at my reflection. Calm face. Sharp eyes. No cracks.

"You're fine," I muttered to myself.

I turned to leave.

And almost bumped into some guy walking in.

He paused when he saw me.

"Oh. Didn't expect to see someone like you here."

I raised an eyebrow. "And what's that supposed to mean?"

He smirked. "You look… dangerous."

I was about to brush past him. I really was.

Then I saw it.

Through the mirror.

Keifer.

Standing outside in the hallway.

Watching.

Watching us.

Something inside me shifted.

Oh. You want to play?

Fine.

I leaned slightly against the counter instead of leaving.

"Dangerous?" I repeated softly. "You sure you can handle that?"

The guy straightened, clearly encouraged. He stepped a little closer.

"I like challenges."

My pulse was steady.

My smile? Controlled.

But I could feel Keifer's stare burning into the back of my head.

Good.

Let him feel it.

Let him feel even a fraction of what I felt watching him laugh like that.

I let out a soft laugh — just enough to sound real.

The guy said something else, but honestly? I wasn't even listening.

Because the door suddenly pushed open.

Hard.

The sound echoed.

I didn't turn immediately.

I didn't need to.

I felt him.

"Leave," Keifer said.

His voice was calm.

Too calm.

The guy tried to argue for half a second before backing off and walking out.

Silence filled the room.

Slowly, I turned around.

Arms crossed.

Chin slightly raised.

"What?" I asked coolly. "Thought we weren't reacting."

His eyes were dark.

Not playful.

Not teasing.

Angry.

"You think that was funny?" he asked.

I shrugged. "You seemed to be having fun out there."

He stepped closer.

My heart did something stupid in my chest, but my face stayed unreadable.

"You don't get to flirt with random guys just to prove a point."

I laughed softly. "And you don't get to parade girls around like it's nothing."

He stopped right in front of me.

Too close.

I could feel the tension in his breathing.

"You were enjoying that," he said.

I tilted my head. "So were you."
