"Talk to me," Severine said.
Her fingers curled tightly into the fabric of his shirt, clinging to him like he was the only thing that could keep her sane. "Please, just talk to me."
"About what, love?"
Love... You called me that.
The word sent a jolt straight to her heart.
Then tell me you love me. Call me by such endearing terms again. Fill my mind with nothing but the sound of your voice until I can't think of anything else. Please.
"Anything," she begged, her forehead slamming against his chest. "Just... don't let me think."
Feeling her desperate need for a distraction, Killian pulled her toward the bed.
The mattress was soft beneath her, but she didn't even get a chance to process the comfort of the sheets before Killian dragged her directly onto his lap.
He let her rest her head heavily on his shoulder, his hand running soothing circles over her back.
"Sure, let's talk then. Maybe we should plan a trip somewhere far away from the capital? Where do you want to visit?"
