Chapter 57 - The Longest Talk

"No matter how carefully we prepare or how hard we try to avoid them, they wait at the end of the road — inevitable and inescapable."

Severine couldn't help but recall a quote from a book she once read as she stared at the iron bars standing guard around the sprawling nursing home.

She stepped forward, and the iron gate creaked open.

"Here, give this to mother." She gave a bunch of red tulips, temporarily planted in a pot, to the servant.

Along with it was a jewelry box holding a necklace.

Red gems were studded at the dangling ends of various interconnected chains, creating a beautiful arc.

She had bought it from Isabella's favorite designer.

I hope she likes it. When she is in a good mood, I'll tell her about my possible awakening...

With a soft smile, she greeted the rest of the servants as she made her way to the outer garden.

It was ironic, really, that she, Isabella's daughter, had never been invited inside this home.
