Chapter 31 – The Cruel Test
Our story begins exactly where the previous chapter ended.
Kluh –
"Are you ready?" (he shouts loudly)
Unknown people –
"Yes sir, we are ready!" (everyone replies with enthusiasm)
Kluh –
"Come on, all of you follow me into this portal."
Everyone enters the portal.
Kluh –
"This is a C-rank portal. You all must clear this portal.
There is one rule here — you are not allowed to use any weapons against the monsters.
You must survive using only your own power and intelligence.
If anyone tries to run away, I will kill him myself.
You have no second option."
Unknown people –
"First, they kidnapped us by force, and now they are forcing us to become members of the Justice Guild.
We can't even protest because he is too powerful.
I'm scared… I don't want to die, and I don't want to become a hunter…"
(one man says while crying)
Kluh –
"I want to give you some information about this portal.
This is a C-rank gate. Inside, you will find monkey-like monsters.
You must fight them. I will only watch."
As soon as they enter the portal, they are teleported into a jungle.
Everyone is scattered to different locations and is completely alone.
Kluh –
"Let's see how many of you survive."
Unknown people –
"Sir, was it really necessary to do this?"
Kluh –
"No, I did it just for fun.
We don't need any of them."
(he says with a creepy smile)
Unknown person –
"Do you believe no one will survive?"
Kluh –
"Hm… they have been teleported into a maze-like jungle.
The monsters may be weak, but they attack together, focusing on one person at a time."
Unknown person –
"Just as you predicted, it happened.
If someone clears the portal, we will have to make him a member of our guild.
Guild rules do not change for anyone."
(he says with a smile)
Kluh –
"I checked properly. All the people who went in are D-rank.
They are all weak.
No one will survive for long.
They will be killed in extremely brutal ways."
Inside the Portal –
Just as Kluh said, the jungle had turned into a dance of death.
The monsters grabbed a man's legs and arms and pulled him apart.
The man begged for mercy, but they showed no mercy.
They killed him in a very brutal manner.
Throughout the jungle, screams and cries for help echoed everywhere.
We now see Kartik —
Kartik is sitting among the corpses of many monkey monsters.
Around him, a few monkey monsters remain, but they are afraid to approach him.
The ground had turned red with blood.
Many plants were broken and destroyed.
On one side lay piles of monster corpses,
and on the other side were their hearts, taken out and placed neatly.
Kartik says –
"So… what's the news? Good or bad?"
Evil System Window –
"Extremely good news."
Hearing this, Kartik immediately stands up.
