[3rd POV]
"I cannot believe we are actually doing this right now" The voice of Haley echoed, as she sat in the back of her dads car. Billie was sitting next to her, as they were on their way to the local magic shop.
A place where "Dreams come true" according to her father.
He was the corniest person she had ever seen, and the man was proud of it. While Billie just thought he was funny.
She still didn't understand why Billie was going with her dad to a magic shop of all places, and why she had been dragged with them.
"Oh come on Haley, where's your sense of adventure? Of fun? Trust me, this place will absolutely blow your mind!" Phil responded with a grin still on his face, not even getting down as his daughter seemed to hate the idea of going to such.
He believed she would love it once they actually went into the shop.
"And if you don't like it, you can go to some of the other shops nearby. I'm pretty sure there's this old record store nearby that we can swing by after" Billie added as Haley looked at her with a little interest in her eyes.
She had been getting into older music recently, listening to a lot of the older generations. Like Sinatra, Queen, Michael Jackson, Prince, and a number of the other legends that had built the music industry into what it was today.
Well, to an extent. Billie was the one that was really starting a new renaissance for the music industry. Thanks to her unique style and the opportunities she provides for others through her music label.
That and she had personally been funding the training of certain musicians that she believed had a lot of potential for the future. This way they can grow into something incredible without having to worry much about money, like most musicians normally did when they first started out.
"Alright, I guess this won't be so bad" Haley replied, deciding to stop complaining. If she could go to the record store she would be happy.
She had even bought an old phonograph that had been modernized for the vinyls and records she had been buying as of late. She hoped to find some Sinatra vinyls or maybe a Prince one.
Something new that she didn't already have.
She had a lot of Madonna vinyls and even a few Michael Jackson ones, but none for Prince or Queen or most of the others. She wanted some variety.
"That's the spirit! Now, how about some driving tunes while we're on our way?" Phil said, as he put on the radio and immediately face faulted when he heard Billie's voice on the radio.
"Ah, maybe the next channel?" Phil muttered, changing the channel, only to find that it also played one of Billie's songs. Billie and Haley bit back laughs as they saw the man continue to flip through channels only to find that either one of Billie's song or one of Haley's songs was playing on every single channel.
Finally, after flipping enough, he let out a sigh as the soft sounds of smooth jazz played.
"Wow, I knew you guys had gotten big, but not that big!" Phil said with a laugh, as he realized that they were even more popular than he thought.
"Yeah we've been expanding more pretty recently actually" Haley responded with a small smirk on her face when she saw her dads face twitched when he pulled to the right, and sighed as he pulled into a parking spot.
He had taken so long to find a good channel that they had already gotten to the magic shop.
Getting out of the car, Billie looked at the name of the shop and raised an eyebrow at the shop's name, which was "Misdirection". If Billie remembered correctly, this was the very same magic shop that he would buy in the future.
"So this is the shop you want to show us so badly? It's..." "Amazing right?!" Phil exclaimed with a bright excited gleam in his eyes, only to pause when he heard Haley.
"I was going to say underwhelming, but sure, whatever you say dad" Haley responded with an eye roll as the man looked at her with a sigh, before opening the door to the store.
"You'll see just how amazing this place is, now come on in!" Phil said, as the two glanced at one another before walking after the man, entering the shop.
Billie's eyebrow raised when she stepped inside, as she noticed all sorts of interesting Knick nacks all over the place.
There was an entire bookshelf full of books that seemed to be about teaching certain magic techniques. Like the one with pulling a rabbit out of a hat, a bird out of a hat, and for some reason, a lot of books about pulling strange things out of hats.
Haley had noticed that there was a lot of hats in this place, mostly top hats, but there was also bowler hats and even baseball caps. All of them were put up neatly and there had to have been at least a hundred of them in total.
They both glanced at each other again, realizing that the person who owned this place really really liked hats...for some reason.
They looked back when they heard the voice of Phil.
"Ah Lewis! My friend! It's been so long!" Phil exclaimed as he walked forwards to a man, a bright grin on his face. While this...friend looked at him with a dead look on his face, like he wanted to be literally anywhere but there.
"It's been 2 days Mr Dunphy" The man responded, no emotion showing on his face.
"Hah, two days too long! Anyways, today is not about me, it's actually about these two. They're interested in learning some magic, and I thought we could get them a starter pack of sorts" Phil said, pointing to the two of them.
The man did make a face when he saw the two, his eyes widening the second he saw Billie. Everyone knew Billie Eilish, and considering he had a shirt with the words "You Should See Me in a Crown" on it, it was pretty clear that he was a fan.
"Oh my god you did not tell me you were friends with Billie Eilish" Lewis said with wide awe filled eyes, not at all expecting this out of Phil of all people. The man was the exact opposite personality from what he expected out of Billie.
Not at all someone he could imagine being friends with his favorite singer of all time.
"Yep, pretty cool right? So, are you going to help us? She might even use some of these techniques in a future concert" Phil offered, smirking as he knew that the man in front of him would not be able to resist after this.
Any real Billie fan wouldn't.
Lewis looked at Phil, before looking back at Billie. His face slowly beginning to change as a bright excited smile formed on his face.
"Absolutely! I've got all sorts of ideas that you might be interested in" Lewis said, as he walked out from behind the counter and towards the book section. But not the one with the hats, but another.
"First things first, I think the disappearing techniques might be helpful to you. Like the "Disappear when the curtain drops" or the "Smoke Bomb" techniques. Either one would be perfect for appearing and disappearing from your stage" The man said, as he brought out two books.
Looking at them, Billie hummed and let Haley lean over and look them over.
"Huh...that might actually be neat" Haley muttered, realizing that her dad might have been right.
This might be worth it to learn.
'Wait...is my dad secretly a genius?' Haley thought, glancing at her dad in wonder, as the man had a stupid grin on his face, goofy looking googly eye glasses on his face, causing her to deadpan.
'Yeah...no, definitely not'
Either way, Billie and Haley both decided to dedicate some time to exploring this place, as it might just help improve their shows further.
With that, they began to listen as Lewis explained different techniques, while Phil could only watch with a happy grin on his face.
Knowing he had gotten what he wanted.
