At the Trocadéro, a gentle breeze rustled through the crowd, carrying the scent of spring flowers. The air vibrated with cheerful anticipation as people gathered for the rollerblade race. Alix, her pink hair vibrant under the Parisian sky, stood at the starting line, her rollerblades gleaming. Kim, ever the confident athlete, waited beside her, a cocky grin already in place.
"Hold on to this for me, will you, Alya?" Alix asked, handing over a gleaming, ornate pocket watch. "I don't wanna drop it during the race."
Alya, smartphone already raised to capture the action for her Ladyblog, barely glanced down. "Hold on, girl, I can't! I gotta…"
"Guard it with your life," Alix insisted, her turquoise eyes intense. "It's a family heirloom!"
"But..." Alya mumbled, quickly passing the watch to Marinette, who stood holding one end of the race banner. "Marinette, take this. I gotta record the race for my blog!"
Marinette fumbled with the watch, her fingers tangling slightly with the banner. "But... she asked you to look after it. I gotta hold up the banner!"
Max, standing between Alix and Kim with his arm raised, ignored the whispered exchange. His voice cut through the excited chatter. "On your marks, get set..."
RAT-A-TAT-TAT!
The sharp crack of gunfire ripped through the cheerful atmosphere, instantly replacing cheers with screams. Panic erupted in a sickening wave. Jazik, still racing on his Vrocanbuggy towards the Trocadéro, heard the distant shots, a cold dread seizing his core. He pushed the buggy faster.
At the race, three Trilobite Magia materialized from shimmering rifts in the air, their silver armor glinting. They marched with heavy, deliberate steps toward the terrified crowd. Marinette gasped, her eyes wide with shock. She recognized the cold, metallic forms of the robots. The crowd scattered in every direction, a tide of human bodies crashing against each other in their desperate flight. The Magia raised their rifle-like arms and opened fire again, aiming above the fleeing civilians.
Marinette, caught in the sudden terror, dropped the race banner. The heirloom watch slipped from her grasp, falling to the pavement with a soft clink. A Trilobite Magia stepped forward, its heavy, metallic foot landing directly on the watch.
CRUNCH!
The delicate timepiece shattered under the force, grinding into irreparable pieces against the concrete.
Alix stood frozen, her sharp turquoise eyes wide, fixed on the shattered remains of her precious family heirloom. The gears and springs lay scattered, reflecting the sudden, cold realization of loss. Her breath hitched, a soft, wounded sound, as if the air itself had been stolen from her lungs.
A Trilobite Magia raised its rifle, its red optic glowing, targeting her motionless form. Just then, a hot pink streak roared into the plaza.
[VROCAN! GO-GO-GO!]
The Vrocanbuggy, a blur of vibrant pink and blue, carved a swift arc through the scattering civilians. It slammed into the line of three Trilobite Magia, bowling them over like tenpins. CRASH! Metal shrieked against metal. Kamen Rider Gavv vaulted from the driver's seat, landing with a solid thud between Alix and the dazed robots. He drew his Gavvgablade, the red blade humming with quiet power.
Gavv lunged forward, the Gavvgablade a crimson blur. He struck the nearest Magia, sparks flying SHHHING! from its silver armor. He spun, deflecting a retaliatory rifle butt from a second Magia. His movements were precise, efficient, protecting the panicked crowd still fleeing. The Magia focused their attention on him, their glowing eyes locking onto his armored form.
One of the Magia aimed its weapon directly at Alya, who was still recording the chaos on her phone, a look of shocked fascination on her face. Gavv shifted, interposing his body between the robot and Alya. He parried the blast with his Gavvgablade. CLANG! The impact vibrated through his arm.
"Run," Gavv said, his voice low, commanding. "Go hide."
Alya blinked, a surprised look on her face. "Whoa, that was... cool."
He didn't respond, simply pushing her gently away with his free hand.
"Just go," he insisted.
Alya, after a beat of genuine awe, finally nodded and disappeared into the crowd, her phone still recording. Gavv refocused on the Magia, pushing them back with relentless strikes, trying to create a path for the remaining civilians to escape.
Alix, however, did not move. The battle raged around her, a cacophony of metal and screams, but her world had narrowed to the broken pieces of the watch. She sank to her knees, her custom rollerblades digging into the scattered debris. Her fingers, usually so agile and strong, trembled as they reached for the crushed mechanism. Tears streamed down her face, hot and sudden, mixing with the dust on the pavement. The metallic taste of grief filled her mouth, sharp and bitter. Her chest felt hollow, a raw, empty space where her anger began to burn. It was not a quiet sorrow but a roaring inferno, a helpless fury at the carelessness that had stolen something irreplaceable.
A dark, iridescent butterfly, a malicious shimmer of purple, fluttered through the chaotic air. It moved with a purpose, drawn to the epicenter of Alix's despair. The akuma descended, a tiny, malevolent spark of darkness. It touched the glowing green wheels of Alix's rollerblades, the last remnants of her racing pride.
A dark, swirling energy erupted around Alix. Her body stiffened, and her pink hair seemed to draw inward, replaced by a sleek, black helmet with a sharp, green visor. Her athletic clothes fused into a black and lime-green bodysuit, form-fitting and aerodynamic. Her eyes, still filled with unshed tears, glowed a vibrant, vengeful green behind the visor. The rollerblades beneath her feet transformed, their wheels now pulsing with an intense, emerald light. Two glowing green canisters appeared on her back, silent and ominous. She stood, no longer Alix, but a warrior of impossible speed and furious purpose, Timebreaker.
Timebreaker shot forward, a black and green blur. She closed the distance to the nearest Trilobite Magia with impossible speed, her glowing rollerblades leaving faint green trails on the pavement. She reached out, her hand making contact with the robot's metallic chest.
ZAP!
The Magia froze instantly, its rifle-like arm locked mid-air. A sickly green light pulsed around its form, and its metallic plating began to shimmer and fade, as if dissolving into thin air. The robot vanished in a shower of sparkling motes, leaving only a faint, sweet scent of ozone. Timebreaker laughed, a sharp, distorted sound that cut through the still-panicked cries of the distant crowd. The stolen energy surged into her, making the canisters on her back glow with increased intensity.
Timebreaker could steal life energy through touch; victims would freeze and then fade from existence as their essence was absorbed into her glowing rollerblades. The more energy she collected, the faster and stronger she became, and she could use this accumulated power to rewind time by a number of minutes proportional to the energy she had consumed.
Gavv paused, his Gavvgablade halfway through a swing at another Magia, his head turning toward the new villain. He recognized the familiar silhouette, the athletic build.
"Alix?" he asked, his voice muffled by his helmet, a thread of surprise in the mechanical filter.
Timebreaker spun, her green visor flashing. Her movements were sharp, precise.
"I'm Timebreaker now," she declared, her voice echoing with digital distortion, a strange mix of anger and exhilaration. "I'm going to make these robots pay, and then I'm going back in time to save my watch!"
Timebreaker darted past Gavv, a streak of lime green. She slammed into two more Trilobite Magia, hitting them with bone-jarring force. She touched each of them in quick succession. They froze instantly, their forms flickering as she drained their energy. The remaining Magia, processing the sudden, new threat, shifted their glowing red optics. They ignored Gavv and opened fire on Timebreaker, a volley of crimson laser blasts. Gavv, seeing the danger, lunged forward without hesitation, intercepting the blasts with his Gavvgablade, protecting his unlikely, unpredictable ally.
Gavv deflected a laser blast with his Gavvgablade, the impact sending a shower of sparks skittering across the pavement. He glanced at Timebreaker, who was now moving with increasing speed, a blur of green energy around her. He realized he needed her help to clear the area quickly. He could not afford to be sentimental now. He needed to end this fight before more innocent civilians became trapped in the crossfire.
