Diya was born into a poor family. Her father was a police officer, but he passed away. From her childhood, Diya lived a life of poverty. She had two younger siblings. Their mother would wake up early in the morning and go to work, cleaning other people's houses, and she would return home around ten at night.
There was often no food at home. So, Diya would give her little sister, Nadia, water instead of milk, and she would go to neighbors' houses to beg for food to feed her brother. When their mother left for work, the children were alone at home.
They also had a parrot named Tommy. Diya and her siblings used to play with him, but one day, Diya forgot to close his cage properly, and Tommy flew away — never to return. From that day, Diya felt more alone in the house
