Used as a sacrifice by his own parents to save his twin brother, Ezra Ashenlocke awakens to a nightmare known as the Trial of Steel.

A child-soldier operation that started with one command.

“Assemble your guns. Kill or be killed.”

He realizes this is no test. . .

It’s a massacre.

But unlike the others, Ezra gains the ability to see fragments of memories from a life lived in another world. The life of a weapons engineer, a hardened soldier who spent years designing tools of war in a different world from his.

Those memories—the only path for his new body to turn from prey into predator.

Now, Ezra must use everything he has learned, and everything he will learn to survive the trial and the dangers waiting far beyond it.

In the land known as the Country of Alchemy, Britannia he begins his path to master the art of Gun Alchemy.

The first clash of metal echoed loudly around the arena.

The sound rolled across the fight platform and reached the spectators seated and standing around the Arena stands.

Almost immediately after it came the sound of the platform cracking beneath the force of the exchange.

Then came the heavy sound of boots striking the ground.

That was the rhythm that filled the whole arena.

The sounds came so quickly that they seemed to overlap, sometimes turning two separate impacts into one long burst of noise.

The Low-ranking Alchemists could at least hear the exchanges and catch brief flashes of what was happening.

To them, white light and light-blue light rapidly crossed the fight platform, disappearing from one side before appearing on another.

But even they were having trouble following the movements.
