Rogers led Ezra and Lucy into the guest living room connected to the workshop while his disciple struggled behind them dragging two heavy crate boxes on a work cart.
The wheels screeched loudly against the wooden floor as the boy pulled with all his strength.
"So…"
Rogers comfortably dropped himself onto the sofa afterward.
"How's your relationship with Vera going?"
A teasing smile slowly appeared on his face.
"We aren't in the type of relationship you're thinking about."
Ezra calmly corrected him while still sounding polite despite the flat tone of his voice.
"It's strictly business."
Rogers stared at him strangely for a few seconds.
"You know…"
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"You're the second person I've met capable of speaking flatly while still somehow sounding polite."
Boom!
The disciple finally pushed the crates fully into the room before collapsing dramatically onto the floor.
His chest rose and fell heavily while sweat rolled down his face.
"Finally done…"
