Straw ignored Prince Vinegario as she continued to eat, while Apple stood up and went to meet his uncle, offering him white wine. The liquid sloshed slightly in the metal cup as Apple moved, his youthful face bright with a welcoming expression that seemed out of place given the tension in the air. Vinegario collected the cup and drank, staring at Straw over the rim of the vessel. He didn't blink, his eyes locked onto her with a cold, unsettling intensity.
