Chapter 1 - dearth

Sura had never been what anyone would call extraordinary not a genius, and still a virgin. Sometimes, he wondered what he'd been doing all these years.

The answer, apparently, was playing romance games.

He had just finished the final arc of his favorite one a game based on a wildly popular web novel.

After countless hours and sleepless nights, he had finally reached the long awaited happy ending: the hero marrying not one, but five heroines.

Sura sighed and muttered, "What a fucking lucky bastard."

Pushing himself up, he flopped onto his bed and closed his eyes, ready to drift off. But then, something strange happened.

"You bastard!"

The voice was faint at first, but definitely there.

"I'm talking to you! What the hell was that?!"

It grew louder so loud that Sura's eyes snapped open.

Before he could process what was happening, a fist came flying straight toward his face. It connected hard, pain exploding across his cheek.

This wasn't his room anymore. And judging by how much his face hurt this was definitely real life.

Sura staggered back, clutching his cheek.

"Ow hey! What the hell?!" he yelled, blinking through the pain.

The area around him was completely unfamiliar no posters, no computer, no pile of manga stacked suicidally against the wall.

Instead, he found himself standing in what looked like a training field. Dirt ground. Wooden dummies. Several people in leather armor glaring at him like he'd just insulted their ancestors.

"What do you mean, 'what the hell'?!" shouted a voice he definitely recognized.

Sura froze.

That voice he'd heard it a thousand times while playing the game. His heart skipped. Slowly, he turned toward the sound.

There he stood: the main hero. The smug, white-haired, crimson eyed protagonist Sura had spent hundreds of hours guiding toward his perfect harem ending.

"Fredrick! You bastard today you die!"

Sura's mouth dropped open. "D.die?! Wait, wait, wait! What did I do? Who am I?!" He turned to the side, catching a glimpse of himself reflected in a nearby window pale skin, skinny build, dark hair, and golden eyes. His stomach dropped instantly.

"Oh no… oh no way."

He knew this face.

This body. This name.

"Oh my fucking God…" he whispered. "I'm the villain!"

The hero's glare hardened.

"What are you mumbling about? This is a duel now die!"

Without hesitation, the hero raised his sword. The blade glowed with pure light energy, magic sparking down its edge, his intent clear and deadly.

Sura barely managed to move before the strike came a slash meant to kill, slicing through the air toward him with terrifying speed.

The flash of light was blinding.

Sura barely threw himself sideways as the hero's sword sliced through the air, tearing a deep cut into the ground where he had been standing seconds ago.

"Holy shit, that was real! That could've chopped me in half!" he screamed, stumbling to his feet.

Gasps and whispers rippled through the spectators the other recruits, the instructors, all staring in disbelief.

"Did that bastard just dodge Leon's opening attack?"

"No way! He's supposed to die in the first strike!"

Sura's brain was in chaos.

Wait, wait, wait Leon was supposed to kill the villain in the first duel and that would trigger the main story arc

He looked down at his trembling hands.

So if I die here, the story just goes on like normal?

The hero Leon frowned, clearly irritated. "You dodge well for a coward." He raised his sword again, light flaring brighter this time.

"But it won't help you. Accept your fate!"

"Accept my what?! Hell no!"

Sura shouted, spinning around and sprinting for his life.

"Coward! Come back and fight me!" Leon roared.

"Fight you?!" Sura yelled over his shoulder. "I barely survived high school P.E.!"

Laughter broke out among the onlookers looking has Fredrick was running away, though most quickly silenced themselves when the hero glared their way looking for him.

Sura didn't dare look back; he was too busy weaving through the training grounds, desperately searching for an exit.

Okay, stay calm, he told himself, ducking behind a wooden dummy.

Think. I'm in the game. I'm the villain, which means there has to follow the story, right? If I remember correctly…

His eyes widened.

In the story, Leon kills the villain here in front of everyone but before that fight, the villain was supposed to draw his own weapon. A cursed sword that could repel one holy strike.

Right! That sword! I have it!

He scrambled to his belt and drew a dark, jagged blade. The metal pulsed faintly with eerie red light.

"why doesn't this have an inventory screen or a system," he muttered.

Leon spotted him immediately.

"So you've decided to fight after all! Good. Maybe you'll die with some dignity!"

Sura raised the sword his hands shaking the whole time.

"Listen, man! I don't want your harem! I don't even want your ending! You can have all five of them, I swear!"

Leon blinked, sword still raised. "What?"

"I just wanna go home!"

For a moment, confusion Leon in the hero's crimson eyes just long enough for Sura to act on pure instinct.

He swung.

To his own surprise, the cursed blade clashed with Leon glowing sword in an explosion of light and energy that sent both of them flying backward.

The spectators screamed, dust filling the air.

Sura landed hard on his back, coughing.

"Okay… okay… still alive. Oh my god, I actually blocked that? Holy crap, maybe I'm not"

"it seems I underestimated you so I'll use my full strength now!" Leon voice thundered through the haze.

Sura barely had time to shout back, "I take it back, I'm super dead!" before scrambling to his feet and sprinting again.

A boost of red energy came raging out of Leon body it was like a Strom and it was so intense sura was bealy able to stand but he already knew what was came because that was the hero strongest strick in the story .

The sword came raging down towards sura with the hero calling it's name

Boundless Slash!!!!.
