~Cassidy~
I woke up with a headache, my vision blurry, and my whole body ached as if I was dragged to hell and back. I groaned sitting up faster than I should have. I laid back down on the lumpy unfamiliar pillow. Pinching my eyes closed.
I felt a presence next to me. I looked over and saw the person I least expected.
Malachi sat in the plastic chair beside my bed.
"What are you doing here? And how am I here?"
Before he could say anything I yelped and slammed my palms over my ears, my fingers tangling in my hair. A sharp screeching static overwhelmed my senses. Something was terribly wrong.
After a few seconds the static subsided forming into something worse, much worse.
Voices.
Malachi and I were the only two in this room. How is it possible? The voices got louder and more clear.
I could feel myself hyperventilating.
I can't breathe–
–Estella is going to be next– Azazel. Dark, cold, murderous.
–I don't know what to think or feel. I don't feel anything…– Estella. Empty, hollow.
–I hope Estella is ok– Asher. Shaken, worried, sad.
–I wonder if Cass is awake– Mabel. Strong and unyielding.
–Oh my god what do I do? I don't know how to help her– Malachi. Concerned, frantic.
Words along with their emotions flooded my crowded head and I was screaming. I only knew I was screaming because my throat was scratchy and going hoarse. My vision finally cleared and suddenly all I could see was Malachi shaking my shoulders slightly, freaking out.
"Cass– Hey Cass please look at me. Cassidy!"
I still had my hands clapped over my ears pulling at my hair as I looked up into Malachi's beautiful hazel eyes.
–what's going on with her? Where is Mabel? – Malachi. Still freaking out.
"W-whos Mabel?" I stuttered through the loud voices in my head.
"Oh thank god you're answering." Malachi froze, eyes narrowed and said tentatively. "Mabel is a family friend of Estella. She brought you here. I didn't say her name out loud though."
"You think very loud.." I whispered.
"What exactly are you hearing Cassidy?" he worried aloud.
"Everything.." I muttered.
I slowly untangled my fingers and lowered my hands, the voices weren't as loud anymore. I could think normal now.
The infirmary door creaked open revealing a tall brown-skinned woman with curly black hair tied in a knot on the top of her head. An elegant deep red robe flowed down her torso all the way to her narrow feet, reminding me of a wizard.
–Ah she is awake. – Mabel. Considering.
