Aerin, thinking that he finally got Yaria, felt a surge of excitement. However, his hands did not waver. His breathing remained steady.
However, just as the tip of Aerin's dagger was about to hit Yaria, her greatsword, as though it was not a big wooden sword but rather a light stick, went back its way and deflected the attack.
Not expecting it, Aerin's dagger was thrown away from his hands. However, Yaria did not follow up with an attack. She just straightened her body and brushed her skirt.
Aerin went to pick up his dagger. Although he did not succeed, he was not dejected. He was happy even. He thought that he had finally learned how to use his daggers a little bit.
Yaria, though she still had that indifferent look on her face, was surprised inside. She never thought that just a sentence from her made a big difference to Aerin. And the way he handled that dagger, he looked like someone who had used daggers for a very long time.
After picking up his daggers, Aerin went back to Yaria with an excited smile on his face.
"I think I got it now! "
"No, you didn't. You're just scratching its surface."
Even though Yaria said that, her thoughts say otherwise. If what he did earlier was not a fluke, then maybe he really did get the hang of it now.
"Yeah, right. I must not get ahead of myself. Grandpa said it's bad to be complacent. I must thank you, Yaria! If not for you, I would not have any idea how to use my daggers! "
Aerin gave a big smile to Yaria, which caused her to look away, and what seemed like a pinky hue appeared on her cheeks.
"No problem."
Yaria cleared her throat, her face now back to normal.
"You need to practice slashing and piercing using your daggers every day. Do not slack off for even a day. Only this way will you truly master your weapon."
"Okay!"
It was at this moment that Professor Furdy clapped his hands loudly, causing all students to stop whatever they were doing.
"Okay! Let's stop for now! That's it for today; you can all go home now! "
The students, as though waiting for this, let out a happy cheer. In Hunter Academy, they only had classes during the morning, and they were free to do whatever they wanted in the afternoon.
"Yes, sir! "
They hastily went back to the classroom to get their things and, after saying some things to their friends, went to their own homes.
Aerin said his thanks to Yaria, too, in which Yaria just nodded only. After that, he went out the door to go home, his legs skipping, excited to tell his grandfather about his first experience in school.
Professor Furdy fell into a deep thought as he watched Aerin's back. He was actually near Aerin and Yaria when they sparred. He wanted to see how Aerin would do. He heard of the Valewood family. They were one of, if not the strongest, when it comes to battling in the air. They were very fast, yet their wings made very little sound. They are great fighters. He heard of rumors that the head of the family now is on par with the heads of the major families in his prime.
Seeing the clueless look on Aerin's face when he held his weapons made Professor Furdy's expectation go down a little. However, seeing how Aerin evaded Yaria's attacks made him rethink his opinions. It was a skill befitting a family regarded as the fastest in the sky.
After the spar, he was about to come over to teach Aerin how to use his weapons but stopped himself after hearing the kid ask Yaria. No one is a better teacher than someone from the Lionkin. Though Yaria is still a kid, he knew her status. He also knew how talented she was. In fact, there were only two students who were somewhat close to her in strength. It would also help her in associating with her classmates, so he just let them be. In fact, it proved to be the right choice. And it seemed like Aerin got a talent for using a dagger too.
Aerin did not know that his professor would be thinking about him. The kid was just happily retelling his experiences in school to his grandfather now.
"She was really cool, Grandpa! "
"Of course, she is."
Aaron laughed. He was glad that Aerin liked school. And it seemed like he got a new friend, too. He was a bit sad that he couldn't teach Aerin how to use his daggers. However, he couldn't do anything about it. He knew nothing about daggers himself. If a Lionkin is teaching him, then he couldn't ask for more.
"Okay, Grandpa. I should practice now! "
Aerin excitedly said.
"Eat first. You must be hungry. You can practice after you eat."
Hearing this, Aerin suddenly stopped. Suddenly, his stomach growled.
"Hehe. Yeah, I should eat first."
