Chapter 120 - Chapter 120

Lyren was lying on his bed facing the ceiling. He had just taken a bath after he had accidentally smelled his armpits when changing into a new t-shirt. He had wrinkled his nose and he realized he had not bathed in almost a day. He was not a clean freak but he realized he had to take a bath. It turned out that his body was maturing and his sweat was becoming even more smelly.

He had taken a bath and he had come out with only some black shorts and he did not feel like changing them. He was in deep thoughts because it was said the previous day that they were going to start classes the following day. He could not help but wonder how they were going to find out about the class they were supposed to have.

It could not be another test, right? He had the urge to ask his senior roommates but they were giving the cold and silent treatment. He was not one to force himself to other people who were not willing after all and so he decided to keep it as it was. He was hit by the flashbacks of him rolling on the same bed for hours die to hunger.

He was once again reminded when it all started. He had gone hungry for almost a week and it was during the final dregs of his trial to survive that he had felt the calling from the ruins. This was where he became what he was today and he was reminded that he had to get stronger. He had a sect to rejuvenate and also many secrets to unearth on arrays.

Thinking of arrays, he was reminded of his mind's eye and he sighed after an unsuccessful attempt to open it. The mind's eye carried almost all the information that he wanted to learn. It was through it that he could access the sect mistress's scroll and also the VANTAGELESS BLADE. If he could access it, rather than having flashbacks of the past, he would be trying to learn as much as he could.

Still, that did not stop him from reflecting on the VANTAGELESS BLADE. He had not used the sword since joining the academy, and also, he had not practiced. He was tempted to go out and train and he fought the urge only for him to lose. He sat on the bed and looked at the sword that was lying on the study table he had just noticed today after he was well fed. There was a lamp of sort but he could not light it. He did not know how to.

He picked the sword and pulled the door open. The living room was dark and he tiptoed to the main door which was locked. He gritted his teeth as he recalled that he had left the key in his room. He tiptoed once again and later came with the key which he used to open the door with. He closed the door and then locked it as silently as he could.

He released a deep breath he had been holding and he started looking around for a perfect spot to start. What stood out were the golden glows coming from the windows of several dorms. It was obviously coming from the lamps he did not know how to light. He then looked for an empty space and it was right at the center.

It was a space that ranged around twenty meters. It was perfect and it was quiet. The only light was coming from the stars and they were not bright enough to light the earth though the skies were well lit. Also, he could see a new moon forming from afar. He stopped admiring the stars as he felt the cool night breeze on his bare chest.

He took a deep breath and he could not help but close his eyes almost forgetting the purpose of him coming out. He cleared his thoughts and he started swinging the sword. His movements were slow and uneven but as his body started warming up, he could feel his moves becoming smoother. This made him realize that he had to first do some light workout so that he could warm his bones.

It did not take long as he started feeling his muscles heat up and, in a while, there was a dull ache. He was doing the sideways and verticals swings. He was not arrogant to think that he was good now that he could perform the first sword. If anything, he was certain that he was still scratching the surface of the first sword.

His movements were still not perfect to actually perform the sword as it should. He was still taking a long time to perform it. He switched hands and started swing with his left hand now. He had not forgotten that he did not want to have a weak hand. His left hand was a having a hard time adapting but still, he could feel that he could perform the first sword albeit barely.

He swung the sword until his left hand started having problems and he stopped. One thing he was sure was that it was not that his left hand was weak. Instead, it was that he was not used to using it. He had a feeling that overworking it was only going to create more problems for him. Instead, what he should be doing was to get accustomed to using the left hand as much as he used the left hand.

He even came up with a schedule where he was going to use different hands every day. He could fell sweat dripping from his head and he realized it was time to head back. The cool night breeze washed over him again cooling him and he walked back to his room. He would have gone directly to sleep but his body felt rough and he took another bath.

He was not even trying to fall asleep when his eyes closed and he was out and awake the next morning. Very early at that. He was about to kick the blanket but he stopped when he realized he was about to do it with his right hand. He reminded himself and he kicked the blanket with his left foot.

It was on this day that he was going to have his first class. He went to the bathroom and used the left hand for bathing and even pouring water on his soapy body. He then used the left hand to dress and in no time, he was dressed in the official Vyl Academy uniform. A black belt on his waist.

He then put on the black rubber shoes that he had been given and he was very ready for breakfast!

He pulled the door open and he did not bother with the seniors even though they scrutinized him. He did not glance at the m even and he left after closing the door behind him. He waled to the dining hall and on the way, he realized that many people were wearing new uniforms and it was obvious that they were first years like him.

Also, there was no one else among the first years was wearing a black belt. He was the only one as expected. He went to the dining hall and he could not help but wonder what they had for breakfast. He was surprised because it was just a bowl of porridge?

It was certainly porridge but there were added supplements and he was sure that there were some ground meat and other local tubers. Well, one thing that he was going to forever revere was just how good the chefs were. He had not forgotten to eat it with his left hand and he took longer than he should but it was no issue because he was still faster than most.

He really wanted seconds but he was sure that there was no such a thing and he just stretched and walked out. It was a new day and it was probably on this day that they were going to begiven instructions.

He reached the classes and he saw students crowding at a certain section of the classes. He went there and there was a noticeboard he had not noticed the previous day. He was slightly taller and he could read from afar, and on it was a piece of handwritten notice that told all the first years to go to the amphitheater. Lyren quickly skimmed through it and he turned then headed to the path that led to the amphitheater following the other first years and picking up Julian on the way.
