Lyren had so much he wanted to test about the arrays he could draw but it seemed that even the universe was against him. Again, it was a matter of his secrecy he was not getting.
He spent the rest of the night in meditative position trying to improve his comprehension with the VANTAGELESS BLADE.
He opened his eyes later in the morning with the sun rising. He sighed because he had not made any progress at all.
He suddenly recalled The Bear's pouch. It was a treasure he was yet to test its uses. Its value was obviously above average. He removed it and decided to pour everything out.
He had held back in the hotel but now he was probably alone so he was going all out. Well, he was surprised with what poured out.
The silver, the copper and there were other things he did not know about. They included a strange herb, some white ball probably pills, there were items but what stood out were two stones.
Even from his amateur knowledge, he could tell that these stones were more expensive than the pouch itself. They were blue stones and they carried their own dim glow.
This made Lyren cautious as he returned everything back and poured in the rest of the coins he had gotten from the gate guards.
He could feel his heart beating wildly as though telling him that the blue stones could cause him more trouble and he could only hope that no one had seen them.
He stood up slowly and looked around before heading into the house and just as he was about to open the door, he saw Claire coming and he could already tell that the rapport they had built had been flushed down the drain.
Well, he was also prepared for whatever they were going to do and he had promised that he was not going to spend the entirety of his day in the hotel.
He was going to take a tour around the city and escape their clutches.
He contemplated on whether to wait for her but he just opened the door and walked in. Not to lie, he was glad that she was wearing just like the previous day even though minimalistic.
He left the door open as he went in and sat on the chairs. He watched her walk in and without greeting, she took a seat opposite him both their gazes focused on each other.
"I wanted to…"
"Good morning, Young Master," She cut him off before he could even say anything important.
"Do I have to beat it in you to stop calling me that?" Lyren asked annoyed.
"I don't mean to annoy you know that I have to open with a formal greeting after arriving and before leaving, Lyren," she spoke reasonably and Lyren surrendered with no way to counter.
"Okay, I was planning on taking a tour around the city. I wanted to ask if you are free for the day. I need to know where I will be spending my time," Lyren was direct and he wanted her to be as direct as him.
"You know that I am under your command when I am under this roof but for you to take me outside, it is not going to be that easy…" She spoke giving Lyren a knowing look.
Lyren fully accepted that she was a leech and if he were to ask her to do anything against the norms of a maid, he was going to have to spend money.
So, this was the world he was diving into. It was just getting interesting then. He was going to play victim until he could be a master.
"Okay, how much for the whole day?" Lyren asked preparing to get extorted. And her response was as expected as she showed him all the fingers in front of her face.
"Ten silvers," She gave the exact amount and Lyren let out a sigh. He sighed before nodding in agreement.
"So, when do you think we should leave?" Lyren asked.
"Today is the market day and there will be all sorts of people. It is the perfect time to go out for a tour. Don't you agree? Even academy students usually go to the market today. There are many interesting things you can buy…"
She trailed off before she stopped. To Lyren, even basic information was premium information. He would have to pay for it.
"It's a good idea but there is something else…"
"What?"
"I also want you not to withhold any information when I ask you questions after we leave this place. Is that Okay with you?" Lyren asked but all he received was a smile that made his heart bleed.
She showed him ten fingers and Lyren almost puked blood. Was she being for real?
That was going to be a total of twenty silver! It really did not get any easier even if you know that it was coming. She was doing her job perfectly and his pouch kept getting lighter.
He reluctantly poured twenty silvers for her before tucking his pouch once again.
She pulled the coins with both hand with a bright face. She then dropped them on her dress and then spoke.
"I will be leaving to go get your breakfast ready. Don't worry, I wont hold back any information during our outing," she spoke sincerely before standing up with the sleeve of the dress in her hand so that she could carry the coins.
Lyren looked away when he saw her thighs and he heard her chuckle as she turned back. His neck tilted towards her and he could not stop getting dazed by her hips as she deliberately swung them.
It was then it hit him that he was already experiencing puberty as his man below thumped.
He took in deep breaths and calmed himself. He had no thoughts of women and he did not think that she was worthy for him. She was even older than him which meant he could not even try to get closer with her.
Suddenly he chuckled.
Was he already a victim? If he was already even trying to consider her, then he was failing. No one was worthy and that was final.
He was going to use whatever means necessary to achieve his goals and if his emotions were going to stand in his way, he was going to cut them off. That was a claim to make but he really felt that he could do it.
He finally calmed down and his clarity returned. He was not eager to cut his emotions off but if bad came to worse which he doubted could, it was only going to be a formality.
Lyren leaned on the chair and waited. He was already hungry. He closed his eyes and he then had a thought. It was about the scroll on arrays.
He closed his eyes and opened the specific page he had been thinking about the previous night.
CONCEALMENT ARRAYS
He had thought about it a lot and if he was being spied on, he could just work on his own concealment. Then he smiled. This was it.
If he could do concealment arrays, he could use them to hide the other arrays when he attacked in public. He was surprised that he had not thought about this earlier.
Still, he knew about the complexity the concealment arrays carried. He had deduced the palm pattern was a concealment array and one could imagine just how complex it was.
He could only hope that there were simpler versions that he could draw with his current body.
As he read, he found out that they were categorized into two. Permanent concealment arrays and Temporary concealment arrays.
All arrays that could be drawn in the air were temporary and those drawn on the ground were either permanent or temporary.
The basic temporary arrays started from those patterns of the second row and Lyren heaved a sigh of relief.
He could not draw permanent arrays even on the ground because he lacked the most important thing that arrays required.
Energy.
He could attempt drawing arrays on the ground but he did not know how long they could last on his Elyria alone.
He knew that it was not more than 48 hours though.
All these theories he wanted to test them out but the privacy issue really was eating at him. Could they not just let him be on his own?
