Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Random Talisman, Choose One of Three

The moment he heard that voice, Peter's mood felt like a roller coaster shooting straight from hell to heaven.

Hell yes!

So what if he couldn't be Spider-Man?

He had a freaking cheat code!

The second he realized this, the gloom in Peter's eyes vanished, replaced by an unprecedented brightness.

He forced down the excitement bubbling in his chest and, in a flash, came up with a plan to hide what he was doing.

He calmly grabbed a tissue from his backpack and carefully wrapped up the spider's corpse.

Then he made a show of walking toward the nearby trash can.

But in reality, the moment the tissue closed around the spider's body, he was already chanting in his mind:

"Sacrifice!"

[Sacrifice successful!]

[Congratulations to the host for obtaining Sacrifice Points: 5000!]

The cold notification sounded again, and a virtual panel appeared on Peter's retina—visible only to him—clearly displaying the words "Sacrifice Points: 5000."

It worked!

The massive weight on Peter's chest lifted, and he let out a long breath of relief.

With Sacrifice Points in hand, he finally turned back, leaned closer to Gwen, and whispered with genuine concern:

"Gwen, how're you feeling? I checked—it shouldn't be a super venomous species."

"At worst... well, you might run a fever or something. Just get some good rest and you'll be fine."

Peter's words were gentle, and the concern in his eyes was incredibly sincere.

Gwen had been feeling pretty anxious about the spider bite, but hearing Peter care so much about her sent warmth flooding through her heart.

Today's Peter felt completely different from the slightly nerdy science guy he usually was.

He'd become gentler, more attentive somehow.

Gwen didn't suspect a thing—she just nodded softly with slightly flushed cheeks, while her body quietly shifted a few inches closer to Peter...

For the rest of the tour, both of them seemed pretty distracted.

Gwen kept stealing glances at Peter, her mind racing with uncontrollable thoughts.

Why is Peter suddenly so sweet today? Has he finally figured it out?

Does he actually... the thought alone made her cheeks burn.

As for Peter, his entire attention was absorbed by the thing in his mind called the "Sacrifice System."

After some poking around and experimenting, he finally got a basic understanding of this cheat.

The Sacrifice System was exactly what it sounded like—a system where you obtained points by sacrificing items, then exchanged those points for power.

The core logic was simple and straightforward.

Any item related to a named character who'd appeared in the Marvel Universe could be sacrificed.

The number of points you got from a sacrifice depended on the energy level inherent in the item itself, plus whether it held special significance to its original owner.

For example, even if Peter somehow managed to get Gwen's socks to sacrifice, since they meant nothing special to Gwen herself, they'd maybe net him 1 Sacrifice Point as a participation trophy.

But if he could get his hands on the Tesseract, or something like Thanos's Infinity Gauntlet studded with gems... the points from that sacrifice would probably be in the hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions!

Sacrificing had a built-in cooldown—different items from the same character required a six-month gap before you could sacrifice from them again.

The sole purpose of Sacrifice Points was to buy stuff from the System Shop.

The System Shop auto-refreshed once a month, listing eight random mysterious items from across the Multiverse each time.

These mysterious items were the key to Peter gaining a foothold in the danger-filled Marvel Universe!

The Oscorp tour finally ended in a weird, tense atmosphere.

On the school bus heading home, Gwen felt her head getting heavier and heavier as waves of dizziness washed over her.

Her breathing started coming rapid and hot, and her eyelids felt like they weighed a thousand pounds.

Finally, she couldn't hold herself up anymore—her body tilted sideways, and she instinctively leaned against Peter's shoulder, drifting into a drowsy sleep.

The faint floral scent from the girl drifted into his nose, her soft hair brushing against his neck.

If this were any other time, facing such a romantic scene, Peter would definitely have been distracted and full of teenage fantasies.

But right now, he had zero mental bandwidth for enjoying this moment.

Because his entire mind was absorbed in the dazzling virtual shop interface in front of him.

Eight items, each glowing with a different colored light, were quietly displayed on the screen.

[Item 1: Chakra Seed][Source: "Naruto"][Effect: After consumption, allows cultivation of Chakra energy within the body to perform Ninjutsu][Price: 500 Sacrifice Points]

[Item 2: Kakuhou (Random)][Source: "Tokyo Ghoul"][Effect: After use, generates a Kagune organ in a random part of the body. The Kagune has excellent offensive and defensive capabilities but produces strong cravings for raw meat.][Price: 500 Sacrifice Points]

[Item 3: Makoto Kyogoku's Karate Insights][Source: "Detective Conan"][Effect: After use, instantly master all of Makoto Kyogoku's karate techniques and combat experience. After hard training, can fight numerous armed thugs barehanded and dodge bullets at close range.][Price: 500 Sacrifice Points]

Peter's gaze rapidly swept over item after item.

From the "Gigai from the World of Bleach" to the "Nichirin Sword from Demon Slayer," every single item made his heart race.

These were all power systems or magical items from other worlds!

Most of these items, if trained to a high level, would give him at least the most basic self-preservation ability in this dangerous Marvel Universe.

It was fair to say every item made an uncontrollable urge to buy well up inside him.

However, when his gaze landed on the last item, his breathing instantly stopped.

[Item 8: Random Talisman, Choose One of Three][Source: "Jackie Chan Adventures"][Effect: After use, randomly draws three Talismans from the Twelve Talismans. The host can choose one of the three and gain absolute control over it.][Price: 10000 Sacrifice Points]

His heart was pounding! That look in his eyes couldn't be hidden!

Peter's eyes were practically glued to the "Random Talisman" option, unable to look away.

The Twelve Talismans!

These were the most legendary artifacts in the world of Jackie Chan Adventures!

Each Talisman represented a unique superpower!

This was hands-down the highest value and most game-breaking thing on the current item list!

As long as he could get any one of those Talismans, he could immediately leap from ordinary high school student to superhuman!

If he got lucky enough to draw top-tier Talismans like the Dog Talisman (Immortality), Dragon Talisman (Combustion), or Rabbit Talisman (Super Speed), he could basically take off right then and there!

Unfortunately... Peter glanced at his sacrifice balance of "5000" and then at that steep price of ten thousand points, his heart sinking with helplessness.

He was short by exactly half!

Was he really destined to miss out on this god-tier opportunity?

Just as Peter's heart filled with frustration and he was cursing his bad luck, a mechanical notification rang out in his mind without warning.
