"I'm aware, but if we don't help the ground team, then they'll never reach the Hive!!" Replied Storm.
As Storm dodged another volley of barbed spines being fired at him, he noticed something he didn't before.
A single massive eye set inside the hive was tracking his movements. The eye was bigger than his entire body put together.
"What the hell is that!!?" Thought Storm.
He twisted through the air and angled himself towards it.
As the organ noticed his plan, all the defenses suddenly switched their target to him.
He twisted, rolled and dived around every projectile trying to shoot him down while charging the blast in his mouth.
He fired a bolt of golden lightning at the oculus and the whole structure shriek in pain.
The hive shuddered as the Oculus exploded into a fountain of green blood.
A flap of hardened skin sealed over the destroyed organ. Stopping the bleeding and sealing the wound.
At the same time, the barbed spines stopped firing and the tentacle and Acid launchers started behaving erratically as they struck both friend and foe.
"Uncle!! Razor!! Dust'an!! Start landing teams on the upper platforms and make your way inside!! Destroy any organs you encounter!!" Ordered Storm mentally.
Storm and Aurora as well as another griffin and the manticore that Storm identified as Quill's mother angled towards a large opening that originally launched large numbers of Gargoyles and made their way inside.
They found a large chamber with several pools of green fluid scattered across the room.
"Guessing this is where the gargoyles are made!?" Thought Storm.
He eyed the large veins above the pools that were regularly pumping new fluid into the pools.
"We follow those veins!! Hopefully they'll lead us to the organ in charge of these pools." Stated Storm.
They rushed through the labyrinthian structure that was actually large enough for Storm's entire clan to stay in with room to spare.
Doing their best to avoid the numerous goblin creatures rushing through the building.
After several minutes, the entire structure shuddered again as another shriek echoed through the interior.
A moment later Dust'an contacted them.
"We've destroyed another organ, seemed to be some kind of spine? It seems like it disabled the tentacles. " stated Dust'an.
"Well done!! My team is currently following some veins that might lead towards another organ." Stated Razor.
"As are we!! We might be going for the same target!" Replied Storm.
"Dust'an, see if your team can locate the heart chamber in the meantime!
We'll meet you there once the remaining organs are down!!" Ordered Storm.
Storm and his group found themselves in a large central chamber that had a massive spiral staircase that seemed to go through the entire structure.
"This place is like a maze!! Storm, describe your surroundings!?" Asked Razor.
"Some kind of large staircase that travels up and down the entire tower." Stated Storm.
"I know where you are!! We were just there a moment ago!! Go down 2 floors and you'll reach a entryway where all the veins are gathering!!
We'll meet you at the entrance!!" Stated Razor.
Storm and his team quickened their pace until they reached the entrance Razor indicated.
As they did, another shudder and shriek passed through the Hive.
"We've destroyed a Organ!!" Stated Pyros.
"Good job, uncle!! Meet up with Dust'an's team and wait for our arrival!!" Said Storm.
At the same time Hoarfrost sent out his own communication.
"My team just entered the Hive!! We'll meet you at the Heart chamber for the final assault. " stated the dwarf.
Storm found Razor's team waiting around the entrance to a large chamber.
"Any idea what's in there?" Asked Storm.
She shook her head.
They entered the chamber together and found a large fleshy sack suspended from the ceiling by several veins over a large bubbling pool.
Several pool other chambers were connected to the room on all sides. All the dragons in the group drew in their breath and expelled fire on the organ.
Chaos started a moment later as several tentacles pulled free from the wall and started slapping at the occupants.
At the same time, several different pools stirred to life as different variants of goblins stepped out of the pools and rushed at the group.
What was troubling though was that their fire wasn't as effective against the organ as it had been against the other goblin structures and creatures.
"The hide is too thick!! Target the veins!! Drop it in the pool!!" Yelled Quill's mother.
She jumped into the air as several spines rose from her spine and tail. Spinning around, she began to discharge them all.
Manticore spines were notoriously sharp and could be fired with enough force to pierce even plate armor.
And their reflexes and dexterity were even sharper.
They could pick out a target on a crowded battlefield in less than a second and fire a barb right through it's eye at over 100 feet away without missing or hitting a friendly.
The projectiles flew through the room to cut cleanly through tentacles, goblins and veins alike. All without even once hitting one of her allies.
Despite the damage the attack had caused, the organ was still hanging by a thread from the ceiling.
Storm took a running start at the organ, trampling several goblins in the process.
He jumped into the air and fired a beam of light at the remaining veins and cutting through them cleanly.
With a shrill scream that Storm had no idea how the object was producing, it fell into the pool below. Smoke and a pungent smell rose from the pool as the acid desolved the organ.
The tentacles withered to nothing, but there was still a massive horde of goblins to deal with.
"Aurora!! Cover everyone with a magic shield!!" Yelled Storm.
She drew on her magic and pulled all members of the team towards her. Forcefully if they resisted the pull, before covering them all in a magical shield.
With the danger now passed, Storm flew into the air and released as much electricity as he could muster.
The entire chamber became filled with it and all the goblins began to fry.
Unfortunately there was something Storm didn't account for.
The chamber was surrounded by several pools of highly concentrated acid.
When acid desolved something they produced gasses.
Such as the massive organ that was just dropped into the pool.
The pools had produced massive amounts of highly volatile gasses that was just waiting for a spark to set it off.
A spark that Storm had just unintentionally provided.
It exploded with enough force to send Storm flying out of the room and into a wall in the staircase wall.
He fell to the ground, his whole body aching and darkness flooding his vision as he struggled to stay conscious.
Storm heard Aurora's distant call as he lost that struggle and passed out from his wounds.
