Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: Nice Try—Don’t You Dare Think About It Again!

[Name: Logan]

[Race: Human Soul]

[Soul Strength: 10.4 (Scattered Soul)]

[World Exploration: 1.5%]

[Current Items: None]

Logan glanced at his panel, feeling a little sentimental about how long it had been since he'd gotten stronger—when the system's prompt sounded.

[Detected a material-realm item carried into this space. Scanning… Not a soul. Converting.]

[Conversion complete. Item obtained: "Book".]

Logan opened his item tab.

[Current Items: Book (Material Realm / Converted)]

He tapped for details.

[Book]

[Quality: None]

[Effect: None]

[Description: A book that doesn't belong to this world. It has a girl's handprints on it, and drool. It might be very popular.]

"…"

"Drool?"

Logan stared at the description, amused.

Yeah. That had to be Jinx—reading, reading, falling asleep mid-page, and drooling on the book.

He closed the item tab and looked around. Of course, the place he'd descended into was Ahri's Blossom Valley.

Picking a direction, Logan started walking, searching for Ahri.

Along the way, he yelled at the top of his lungs, calling her name, hoping she'd hear him.

He knew it was kind of stupid, but it was still better than wandering around like a headless chicken.

And in a place like this, Logan didn't have to worry about that freak Thresh showing up. This wasn't Thresh's territory—it was Ahri's. And with the kind of relationship those two had, Thresh definitely wasn't coming anywhere near her ground.

If anything, it was always Ahri picking fights with him… and him avoiding her.

To put it bluntly, Thresh really did seem to lose to Ahri.

Against that sly little fox, he genuinely had no good answer.

Because Ahri was the spirit of salvation in this realm.

"Ahri!"

"Ahri?"

"Ahri, are you here?!"

About ten minutes passed with Logan running through Blossom Valley. He found a few spirits along the way and gained a little exploration progress—small gains add up—but his real focus was still on finding Ahri.

And while he searched so seriously, he didn't notice that not far behind him, a little fox with fur so white it practically glowed was sneaking through the brush.

The grass here was taller than the fox, forming perfect cover. She lifted her tiny paws and pounced playfully along Logan's footprints.

"Awoo~"

She landed on a shoeprint bigger than her entire head, looked up at the guy ahead who kept shouting her name, and her fox face showed a strangely human expression.

Mischief.

Her little black nose twitched as she slipped into another patch of grass.

Then she popped her head up again—because she spotted a butterfly—and immediately chased after it, playful to an absurd degree.

Until she heard Logan's voice.

"Ahri, you're here, right? I need your help."

The little fox, still sneaking around, finally decided to stop messing with him. As fun as it was watching Logan panic-search for her, if he really had something urgent, then dragging it out wasn't her style.

She let the butterfly go and sprang up.

"I'm here!"

A bell-like voice reached Logan's ears and made him turn around—

But he didn't see anything.

Logan frowned, thinking he'd imagined it—

"Over here, Logan!"

A snow-white little fox jumped up out of the grass, flashed into view—then dropped back down and vanished again.

Then she jumped again, ears bouncing, only to have them flop down over her little face before she disappeared again.

"This way!"

Logan: "…"

He strode over and shoved aside the dense weeds—

And there she was: Ahri, clearly entertained, sitting primly on the dirt with a happy little smile. She looked up at Logan, her voice clear as a spring.

"Hey, kid. What do you need me for?"

"Also… you haven't been here in a long time. I thought you weren't coming back."

"I was honestly happy for you," Ahri tilted her head. "Because this is where the dead come. You're alive—what are you doing showing up here all the time?"

"It's a long story," Logan said, squatting down to look at her. "Things in the other world got too messy. I've been so busy I didn't have time to come."

The little fox nodded, rose onto her hind legs, and swished her big tail.

"Alright, then why are you here this time? Say it. Kind-hearted me will help you. I help every soul~"

Logan hesitated, then said, "How about you just… look?"

"Like what Thresh did to me back then. Just look."

"Fine." Ahri nodded. "Relax. Don't think about weird stuff. I'll take a look myself."

"Just looking is easier, isn't it?"

"Poof~~"

A puff of white smoke burst out.

When it cleared, a stunning, seductive woman with pink hair stood in front of Logan. Her full thighs were dazzlingly pale as she stepped toward him, one long leg forward. Ahri's breathtaking face scrunched slightly; her red lips parted as she spoke.

"No, Logan. I can't do that. If I directly examine your soul, you'll be hurt by it. I'm not Thresh—I don't do things like that."

"Alright. Relax. Look into my eyes." Ahri smiled, lifted her hand, and pressed a slender finger to Logan's forehead. Her nails weren't painted, but they were soft and pink, neat and pretty.

"Let's see…"

"Mm, Zaun. Jinx… oh, interesting. Places I don't know about at all."

Logan held her gaze.

Her fox eyes were impossibly beautiful—long at the corners, naturally lifting at the tail into a subtle arc. Pink eyeshadow, lashes like delicate fans, and green pupils reflecting Logan's face.

Logan was squatting, while Ahri leaned forward, bent at the waist, meeting his eyes—

Which meant his view included some extremely distracting scenery.

A blue butterfly-knot ribbon hung down naturally, and the bright, pale expanse between—

Logan blanked for a second.

On everything he had, he wasn't some horny demon!

That glance was respect. Pure respect!

But… Ahri was too seductive. She was—

A woman among women. A fox among foxes.

Logan's eyes drifted down on instinct, just for a split second…

And then he couldn't tear his gaze away.

Ahri didn't notice at first. She kept murmuring as she read.

"Reform… Piltover… Vander… mm, so white… really pretty?"

"Stockings… fox ears… endure-hug-fu—???"

Ahri's eyes flickered with confusion for a heartbeat—then her face went bright red in an instant. A blush spread across her cheeks as she stared at Logan with wide, watery eyes, furious and embarrassed, somehow making her look even more alluring.

"Poof!"

White mist burst again, and the snow-white little fox reappeared, dropping onto the ground.

Ahri's voice turned sharp. "You—get down."

"And stop thinking that kind of stuff!"

"I—sorry, Ahri, I—" Logan finally snapped out of it, realizing she'd seen everything he'd just been thinking.

Wait, she literally just read out endure-hug-fu—

… and there was more—

Like—

Nope. Not saying it.

The little fox glared at him, baring tiny sharp teeth, fierce as she snapped, "Don't!"

Logan immediately shut up and behaved.

But then Ahri let out a soft giggle and said, "Alright, don't be so nervous. I'm not really mad."

"Humans have desires. Humans have dark thoughts. That's normal. Don't blame yourself. Sometimes, even I have dark thoughts."

"I'll think things like—ahhh, every day is so annoying, I don't want to care about this world anymore, I want to go out and have fun!"

Ahri made a dramatic wailing sound, tail swishing, then sat in front of Logan. Her little paw—shaped like a plum blossom—pressed to Logan's forehead as she continued:

"But I only think it. Thinking is fine. As long as you don't do it, it isn't wrongdoing."

"You were just thinking, right?" Ahri asked.

"Uh… yeah. I mean—yeah."

Ahri narrowed her eyes. "Yeah?"

"Yes. Of course. I was just thinking."

"Nice thought," Ahri huffed. "Don't think it again."

She put more pressure on his head. She claimed she wasn't mad, but Logan was already face-first in the dirt, eating soil.

So… yeah. She was absolutely getting her revenge.

After a moment, she pulled her paw back and looked at Logan.

"Alright. I know what's going on now."

"This isn't hard to solve, Logan."

Ahri spoke with poised elegance, as if she hadn't just ground his face into the ground a second ago.

Logan hurriedly asked, "How? Vander matters to me—to all of us. Singed said his soul is being suppressed by his beast instincts, that he can't wake up. And if it's about souls, that's your specialty. You'll help me, right?"

"Will I?" Ahri twitched her nose, sniffed, then tilted her head at Logan with a smile.

She started teasing him again. "Should I help you, Logan?"

Logan opened his mouth, then paused.

Right. Did Ahri owe him anything?

She'd already saved him from Thresh. She was his benefactor. What right did he have to demand more?

But Logan had a trump card.

He took a deep breath and pulled the book out of his item slot.

Then the system prompt sounded.

[Use an energy bar to gift the item "Book" to a special character?]

An energy bar?

Makes sense. Even in dating sims, gifting has limitations.

Logan chose yes. One energy bar dropped—but that was fine. Once he got back, Jinx could help him "recharge."

But before Logan could even properly take the book out, Ahri burst into laughter, tail whipping like a propeller as she said brightly:

"Alright, alright, I'll help you."

"Come here—let kind and great me tell you what to do~"

She lifted her paw and patted the ground a few times, motioning for Logan to come closer.

Cunning fox. Grinning like a mischievous little spirit.
