" You look beautiful, Angel." The voice prompted her to turn. She gasped, her gaze filled with the man walking towards her. Her heartbeat quickened with each step he took toward her. Her palms sweated out of nervousness. Her gaze stayed glued on the Adonis smiling at her.
He came to a halt before her, his hand resting gently on her waist. "Angel," he muttered, as though it were a prayer. The reverence in his gaze matched the worship in his tone. She felt hot all over at the mere thought of how his presence could take her breath away.
An audible gulp was heard as she swallowed, trying to moisten her dry throat. She was suddenly thirsty for whatever the man before her could give. Her skin burned where his hands rested. His gaze stayed glued on her, afraid that looking away would make her disappear.
He didnt mind that she was silent. Rather, he enjoyed the effect he had on her. It was only fair that she was taken by him, as she had every inch of him. Heart, body, and soul. He moved closer, covering the little gap between them.
His desire was apparent from the fervor in his gaze. She tried to look away, afraid that she would sink into his gaze. Before she could succeed, her chin was grasped gently. " Don't. I pray for your gaze to stay upon me and never look away as mine does to you. Angel, you have consumed me. I want you. I need you so bad. May I?"
His lips were almost touching hers as he whispered those sinful words. Each hammered gently at her heart, breaking the walls she had built. She closed her eyes, trying to turn off the fire consuming her. His desire was palpable. She could feel it, smell it, and see it in every action he took.
He seduced her expertly, luring her into temptation. Even with her eyes closed, she could feel his lips ghosting over her being. At some point, she caved, nodding to his request. He smiled, watching her. His lips stayed touching the edge of her mouth, his lashes brushing against her cheeks.
He breathed her in, taking his time to enjoy the rare proximity. His hand gently rested on her delicate neck, while the other circled her waist, pulling her flesh against his hard body. She felt his fingers wrap around her neck, just enough to keep her in place.
Then, he covered the distance between their lips and...
Grrrr.! Grrrrr.!... Grrrrr!...
Freya was jolted awake by the loud blaring of her alarm. She looked around, trying to shake off the unusual dream she had just had. She could still feel the warmth from his breath on her lips. She could still perceive the hardness of his body against her softer, smaller one.
For a few seconds, she let herself fall into it. Imagining how good it would feel to be kissed by those lips. Those beautiful orbs had affected her in ways she couldn't fathom. Her hand rested on her neck as she tried to emulate his action in her dream.
Her heart silently began to take on a new rhyme. One she wasnt aware of. Each beat echoed a name her lips couldn't utter. Her body spasmed deliciously as her hand gently caressed her neck, eyes shut, flirtatiously.
She unconsciously bit her lips, a soft moan escaping her throat. The unnatural heat she felt was akin to gasoline fueling a desire she couldn't place. Her skin flashed, like a gentle drum welcoming the drummer.
Before she could get any deeper into it, her second alarm rang. This time, she reacted differently. A mortified gasp escaped her lips, her eyes watering a little. She felt anger and shame fill her being at her thoughts. Why was she dreaming about that man? Why couldn't she get him out of her mind?
She pinched her thighs until they turned red and her eyes overflowed with tears. She couldn't let that man into her life. She didnt need another man to mess things up even more than they already are. She shook her head in an attempt to rid herself of every new sensation she had felt.
A desperate cry left her lips, a silent tear falling in frustration. She wiped it off angrily, her teeth sinking into her lips. A few minutes of breathing exercise stabilized her heart as well as her emotions. She sighed, throwing off her sheet reluctantly.
She got up from the bed, her feet leading her to the balcony. A week had gone by since she got back into the country. It was also the second day after she moved into her new home.
Her gaze swept around the verdant forest that surrounded her home. The cool morning breeze caressed her bare skin, cooling down any remnant heat she had on her. A delicious shiver went through her body as she took in the fresh scent of the air around her.
She had missed this. Waking up every day to a peaceful world was a blessing she never took for granted. Now that she finally had a vacation from her main work, she wanted to thoroughly enjoy her days without worries.
It took her breaking up with that man to realize how draining her relationship had been. She thought she loved that man and compromised a lot to cater to his needs. However, she was beginning to wonder if what she had felt for Liam was love.
Perhaps, she didnt truly understand what love meant. The only form of love she had experienced was the kind he felt for her siblings. Raising them had been a burden she came to accept, but loving them came naturally. It didnt mean that she never felt resentful towards their parents.
No matter how much she wanted to whitewash their misdeeds, she couldn't. Not when that incident had shaped her mind and heart, leaving behind a permanent scar that the world was oblivious to. Every day, she walked around helping other people as her soul silently screamed for help.
She smiled at others in hopes of being the light in someone's dark day. Sadly, no one saw through our smiles. Everyone was oblivious to the bleeding heart that cried for help. No one knew about the girl who would drown herself in work to avoid confronting the darkness inside.
Freya's good mood was once again ruined by her poisonous thoughts. The view that had soothed her not long ago now appeared dull and lifeless. She scoffed at the irony of her life. The universe gave her a face that could topple a nation. She was well aware of how ethereal she was.
While she acknowledged this fact, she also hated it. Everyone judged her by her looks. No matter where she went, she would be followed around by men in an attempt to lure her into their bed. In the corporate world, her success was attributed to her looks.
She couldn't make any friends because the women around her were either insecure or despised the attention her presence brought about. Fortunately, she didn't need to have a friend to survive.
She had matured before her age and understood the cruelty of the world. If her parents could abandon and neglect her, then, she had little hope for everyone else.
Of course, Shay was an exception. Her presence in her life made things a lot brighter. She was the ray of sunlight that brought her warmth whenever the cold got too much. She was the light that lit her path when she couldn't see beyond her feet.b
The shrilling sound of her phone pulled her back to reality once again. She looked around, taking her time to bring her mind back. Her phone stopped ringing for a few seconds before it resumed ringing again.
This time, she managed to get to it before it stopped ringing. When her gaze fell upon the caller ID, a genuine smile broke through the gloom that had previously shrouded her being.
"Baby girl," she called, her voice dripping with love. Whatever the person answered made her smile stretch into a wide grin.
"Yes, baby girl. I think it would be great. Just what I needed for the day. See you then. Bye-bye. Love you."
She hung up the phone feeling lighter and happier. Somehow, she always knew how to cheer her up. Whenever she felt low, her best friend would call right on time to drag her back to life. It was sort of magical.
There was no other way she could explain it otherwise. She dropped the phone and headed to the washroom. It was time to start her day. As for everything else, she threw them to the back of her mind.
