Chapter 2 - A Happy Birthday

"Wake up, idiot!" Eleanor barged to his room. A separate towel wrapped and perched atop her head. Curly locks of her jet black hair between her ears dripped wet down to her nape and as well as down to the crevice of her chest. With just about a white towel wrapped around her body, it was hugging all her curves and draped just about her thighs.

But her voice never budged Ethan's slumber. With seemingly curled beneath the large comforter, she only thought one move.

She launched midair, with feet first striking towards the curled up bed.

An earful groan was all he muttered. He curled even further, wringing in pain from her reckless behavior.

"...The fuck are you... Doing?" Under his breath he seethed. "Leave me alone!" He broke free from the curls and sprawled his legs and arms for all his body to own the large size of the bed.

Twins as they are, their stubbornness knew no bounds.

Eleanor was one to never give up. Shook his right shoulder, violently so— not more than that and she might dislocate him for good. "Are you crazy?! They're finished. You're here still like a slug!"

He only hummed ever so softly.

"Ugh! Why do I have to do this?! I haven't finished mine either!" She muttered under her breath, stomping as she went towards the curtain blinds. "I'll make you suffer."

He squinted his eyes, grumbled from such blinding light. He didn't have any time to curl up as the comforter pulled away, rather to the opposite side of his twin. "Who in the hell—?!"

"Got a problem with that?"

Eleanor giggled when it was Damian stepping up; no matter how many times Ethan tugged the comforter it was to no avail. His voice was calm but it was enough to have him sat upright in a jiffy.

Their eldest brother was in a gray knit polo shirt with a pair of black trousers. He only had about a sleek necklace. He had his sleeves folded about a quarter showing his black watch to complete his outfit.

Even all this, Damian remained calm as he let go with it. Then glanced at a mirror, having a run on his brush up hair

"No, brother. I'll get to it." Without a choice, he trudged towards the bathroom.

"Look at that, even his luggage are still not unpacked, knowing we would be here for about two weeks since its Christmas vacation. So helpless." She shook her head as she went out of her way to the room.

The water gushing out was loud enough for them to hear. "What?! I can't hear you! Get lost!"

"Just cut him off some slack." Damian chuckled as he shifted his gaze from the twin sister out of the room then to the twin brother who now had a sudden fog, blurring the glass. When he noticed that a vague figure of the youngest now took off his white shirt, he scooted out of the room as well.

It didn't take long for him to finish his get up. Soon as he got out of the room and head down the stairs, he glanced at Oscar, who donned a white sweater.

Sister was in a phone call. While tad far away from Ethan, all his ears caught something along the lines of taking a leave, a sincerest apologies, and an earful of gratitude as she hurried to a curt bow.

Oscar gave Damian a signal.

"Turn around for a moment, Sis." Damian urged her. Unbeknownst to her, a sudden glint caught her attention.

A thin streak of gold chain with a gold symbolizing an 'A' and a hint of a gemstone similar to her eyes.

'So that's where the glint came from...'

While Arlene didn't wear which seemed the coat tucked on her other arm. The black fitted turtleneck with a wide pants had Ethan thought nothing could top off her outfit when it came to simplistic and minimalist design.

"This is..." Arlene was still in awe. The eldest brother broke free from getting close as soon as it latched to a loop. Her queries to Oscar

"It suits you best, sis." A sudden flash from his phone had a perfect timing of capturing what he had thought of a perfect picturesque.

"Happy birthday to our big sister, who put us all first before hers; to try and have all ourselves a better lives."

Her beaming up now had turn to a halt with eyes closed. "Thank you, Dee and Oz." A sudden tear escaped her eye as she croaked."

Ethan, for as long as he could remember. Soon as their parents died about five years ago from an accident. Arlene, the older sister who was barely legal of age, gave up and stood tall as the head of the family.

She was more than smart and skilled in her right. With no relatives who could help and nothing else to offer yet, she gave up her dreams of school to take on different jobs. Just to keep them afloat.

With many mouths to feed, what she did was barely enough for them to survive.

Yet she never gave up.

Not once.

Perhaps never will...

Until Damian came back.

So many things happened; surreal yet here they were. Thriving for all its worth.

Lives became better; despite the wariness and concerns they all had towards Damian, but never questioned further when they knew it was all but illegal means.

"Oh, come on. You can't cry. Not with your make up on." Damian hurriedly comforted her, and Oscar also moved his wheelchair closer to them.

"Silly, I only put on face powder."

Ethan had his heart swell up in joy what transpired. On the flipside, he thought about something else as well. Which prompted him to turn around but it was Eleanor, in a beige vintage cape with a knee-length skirt of the same fabric. She bend over, carrying a red velvet gift box.

"I know you'll forget this so I had to go back to your room." She rolled her eyes. "Can't believe you forget our gift in this special day."

He apologized but she shrugged it off, hurrying themselves.

Eleanor waved at them, saying, "We're done now. Let's go!"

While getting dragged by his twin, he blurted, "You look great on that outfit, though."

"Tell me something I don't know."
