Chapter 30 - Separate Arrangements

Duke Tully was not in good health, and he still had to see his brother, Ser Brynden Blackfish. The two would argue when they met, so Robb did not stay long in his grandfather's study.

After fighting all night, Robb was exhausted, so he found a room at random and slept until noon.

After lunch, Robb's first order of business was to convene a meeting of the lords.

In the Riverrun meeting room, Robb sat at the head of the table, with his uncle, Ser Edmure, to Robb's left. None of the other nobles found anything amiss. After leading two unprecedented campaigns, Robb's prestige reached its peak, and the title of the Young Wolf was now known to all.

  Six people attended this meeting.

They were Lord Jason Mallister of Seagard, Lord Tytos Blackwood who held Riverrun, Ser Edmure Tully and his uncle, the Blackfish, and finally Robb and Theon Greyjoy.

Robb spoke first: "The great victory in the recent raid on the Lannister camp outside Riverrun is largely due to the efforts of everyone present."But Tywin's army has not yet been wiped out, my family has not yet been rescued, and this battle continues."

Ser Brynden, still flushed from his recent argument with his brother, nevertheless continued to gather intelligence.

He produced a piece of paper: "Lord Tywin recently defeated the Northern army, but without inflicting many casualties. He then led his army quickly towards Riverrun.

According to our scouts, in order to make good time, he abandoned the wounded on the road, and rest periods were shortened. Many soldiers died along the way, and many more deserted.""Lord Roose Bolton harassed them a few times, but Lord Tywin repelled them."

Robb nodded. "It seems the old flayer is no match for Tywin. But that old fox Tywin won't come to his death knowing Jaime is my prisoner, he'll find a castle to hold and wait for an opportunity.

We don't need too many men on the old flayer's side. Write him a letter, tell him to continue to confront Tywin. As for Greatjon, Rickard Karstark, and Maege, have them bring their forces to Riverrun to join us.""Ser Brynden Blackfish nodded in agreement, having unconsciously grown accustomed to Robb's commands.

Robb continued, "Ser Brynden, I admire your abilities, and I would like you to be responsible for the intelligence work of a specialized army. How about you become my intelligence officer?"

Ser Brynden was filled with mixed emotions. He had broken away from his brother and started his own household out of spite for his brother's interference in his marriage, and had come to serve his niece, but had never been given a position of importance. Now, he had finally found a position where he could use his talents.

"I won't disappoint you," Ser Brynden agreed readily."Robb was pleased to have added another powerful general to his army.

"Uncle Edmure, Jaime scattered the Riverlands' forces before, and there are still many soldiers scattered about. I hope you can use the Tully name to call these soldiers back; they are all useful strength."

Edmure Tully felt somewhat ashamed, because he had been defeated due to his inferior ability compared to Jaime, and now he had to face those remnants of the army, which made him feel even more ashamed. But only he can do this, the people of the Riverlands are loyal to House Tully, and with Duke Tully in poor health, he, as the sole heir, must take on this task.

"I will do it, I just don't know how many people are still alive."

Robb also arranged this intentionally, people need to face their past failures and overcome them in order to grow.Turning to the two Earls, Robb had arrangements for each of them: "Earl Lefford, your Crow's Nest has been breached, Tywin has your family in his hands, and there are still many lords of the Riverlands in Tywin's hands. We also have Tywin's nephew and many lords of the Westerlands in our hands. You will be responsible for exchanging hostages with Tywin."

Earl Lefford had been defending Riverrun these past few days, and his contribution was no less than anyone else present. He had been anxious since learning that his family had been captured, and now that Robb had given him an opportunity, he gave Robb a grateful look."Rest assured, I would never do anything that would damage my reputation for personal reasons."

"Lord Jason Mallister," Robb continued, "once my men arrive, we will continue west and strike into the Westerlands. Tywin is burning, killing, and looting in the Riverlands, countless people have been murdered by him, and countless riches have been plundered. We must have our revenge."

After Robb recaptured Riverrun, he cut off Tywin's connection to the Westerlands. Now Tywin can only get supplies from King's Landing, and the Westerlands have become an isolated territory. Moreover, Tywin and Jaime had drawn away most of the troops from the Westerlands, leaving them practically like fish on a chopping board, not only plump but also harmless.

Naturally, Ser Jason Mallister was more than happy to receive this plum assignment.

As the meeting was drawing to a close, Theon realized he hadn't been assigned any tasks yet. Thinking he might be able to accomplish something even greater, he volunteered.

"Robb, there's the Iron Islands and my father's army. I can go back and persuade my father to send troops to support us."Theon Greyjoy is from House Greyjoy of the Iron Islands, whose sigil is a kraken-like creature, so they are also known as the Squid House.

The Iron Islands have barren lands, and the people's customs are rather savage, relying on raiding and pillaging for a living.

They had rebelled before, but at that time, Ned Stark and the former King Robert sent troops together, directly defeating House Greyjoy in rapid succession, even killing two male members of the family, leaving only ten-year-old Theon Greyjoy.Ned couldn't bring himself to completely wipe them out, nor did he want to see another rebellion in the Iron Islands, so he took Theon Greyjoy back to Winterfell to raise him.

Because Ned was an honorable man, and he also cared for Theon, he didn't let the grudges of the previous generation fall on Theon, and he even allowed him and Robb to become friends who grew up together.

Robb glanced at Theon, knowing that in the original timeline, after returning home and being educated by his father, he betrayed the Stark family.A bit conflicted...

Robb wasn't conflicted about whether or not to let Theon return. In fact, Robb now hoped the Iron Islands would rebel, and even if they didn't, Robb would make sure they did.

Because the Iron Islands were a crucial part of his plan.

But Theon was, after all, a member of the wolf riders who had fought alongside him in two campaigns, and with the memories, there was still some affection.

After a moment's thought, Robb agreed to Theon's request.

You're already on a different path than in your previous life, and I don't know what choices you'll make after returning to the Iron Islands.Consider this your test. If you pass, we're still brothers. If you're the same as before...

Everyone chooses their own path. I hope you don't end up on the opposite side of me.

Robb looked at the happy Theon and silently prayed in his heart.

On the second round of recommendations, thanks for all the support.
