Chapter 7 - Saint-Supremes

Saint-Supremes, the pinnacle of existence in this world second only to the Harbingers. They built their strength over thousands of years, elevating their levels from Nascent, the lowest level of Awakeners with only 2 points, to gain 128 points in their star cores.

Following Nascent were Blooming-Withering, Spirit-Ghoul, Ascendant-Sunken, Restoration-Extinction, Divine-Cursed, and finally Saint-Supreme. Both Purifiers and Corruptors start as a Nascent, and the ranks follow a Purifier-Corruptor format, meaning a sixth level Purifier will be called a Divine, while the Corruptor counterpart is a Cursed.

Lastly, at each successive level, the number of points on one's star core will double, peaking at Saint-Supreme with 128 points.

While the names were simply titles, and the number of points were simply indicators, moving onto the next level was a combination of arduous effort, enlightenment, and most importantly luck that one might not come across in a hundred years.

That is why Saint-Supremes were honored and revered so much, and Noah Blackwell's declaration was essentially a declaration of war against most of the Awakener world, for many take sides for safety and community.

Noah turned to his Void Subjugation Corp, "From today onwards, each squad will work together in mass subjugations of both berserk Awakeners and Void Creatures. Increase your strengths as much as possible, we cannot embarrass ourselves in front of the Saint-Supremes"

And without warning, he grabbed Emerald by the waist and pulled her in close, much to her surprise. Not allowing time for even a single protest, he enveloped themselves in a cocoon of shadows, before disappearing completely from the hall and leaving the Void Subjugation Corp by themselves.

The silence was deafening, as if it could rupture their eardrums with sheer pressure. No one could argue with the Harbinger's orders, yet no one knew where to start.

One woman wearing the Void Reaper's insignia stepped forward, breaking the silent pressure.

"We are on our own"

Her hair was unique, to say the least. A mixture of blue highlights and a few braids on one side of her head, coupled with simple dark eyeliner that shone against her pale face. Her overall style screamed rebellious, and her commanding presence made a few others uncomfortable.

The leader of the Night Weavers stepped forward, his red hair glinting in the bright fluorescent lights. He stood a few feet from her, holding his ground despite being half a head shorter.

"What do you mean by that, the Harbinger didn't abandon us"

She crossed her arms, her silver chains clanked precariously from her clothing like a fashion statement, jingling as she tapped her boots against the marble floor.

"Of course he hasn't, we have his support to grow as strong as we possibly can"

The young woman took a breath before continuing to speak, "What I mean is he is testing us, seeing how well we can work together on our own"

There were murmurs of agreement, however a general confusion remained. While powerful, they were best described as a flock of chickens without their heads.

"Purifiers will go to the Purity Tower to accept as many missions as they can," the young woman said abruptly, "While Corruptors will go to the Corrupt Palace and do the same. We meet back here, divide into teams lead by a Void Reaper, and gain experience"

Simple, yet reasonable. If they didn't have a proper guide like the Harbinger to rely on, utilize another system that has already been established. Within moments, they had divided themselves into Purifiers and Corruptors, and were leaving the Global Awakener Institute.

They parted at the glass doors, quickly becoming black specks in the distance as they traveled at top speeds in opposite directions.

From the shadows, a dark cocoon emerged, coalescing in the sky above the Global Awakener Institute. Without warning, the shadows dispersed, revealing Noah Blackwell in his signature black clothing, as well as Emerald, who clung tightly to his chest.

Her face had become beet red, and her body had long since gone stiff, doing her best not to move around too much with Noah's arm around her slim waist.

He smiled, paying her discomfort no mind, "It's good to know that there are at least some brains in the Void Subjugation Corp"

Emerald took in a deep breath, her chest heaving, "R-right… this will be a good experience for them without our guidance"

They descended from the air until their feet touched solid ground. The cold concrete offered them stability from the hair winds, and Emerald looked almost relieved as she fixed her hair which had become slightly tangled in the winds.

"Give me the location of every Saint-Supreme in the world," Noah said abruptly.

Emerald pursed her lips, "Are you really trying to go to war against every powerhouse in existence at the moment? What if the Sanctuary tries to take advantage of the situation and attack us?"

Noah held up one hand, coldly stopping any more comments, "If we want to make a real change in this world, we have to take radical actions at times, plus, the Holy Sanctuary would not dare make any big movements"

Sensing that was not going to budge on his stance, Emerald took out her tablet and tapped through it for a minute, her perfect nails clacking against the screen. Moments later, she swiped the screen, and a soft ding could be heard from Noah's pocket.

"I've sent all the information to you"

Noah reached inside his black trench coat and pulled out a device resembling a smart phone, though its higher tech design suggested that it was much more than that. Clicking on the latest notification, Noah was brought to a new interface.

A holographic image of the entire globe, complete with its thirteen continents and five oceans. Yellow dots were scattered all over the globe, some in the oceans, some spread out along the continents.

Meanwhile, a blue dot pulsed slightly, signifying their current location, with three yellow dots in the immediate vicinity.

The man nodded in satisfaction, his cold gaze calculating his next steps. A brief moment passed, and he ungloved his right hand, raising it into the air.

The world's darkness moved in response, shifting and condensing at his behest. His tattoo glowed an unnatural light, sucking up the colors of the world as if it wanted nothing but eternal darkness.

A suffocating moment passed, and nothing else seemingly happened. Noah lowered and put back on his glove onto his right hand.

"Those of the eighty three Saint-Supremes who wish to join us willingly will do so," his eyes turned dark, "Those who do not we shall deal with after. Massive waves are shifting this world, and we must be prepared to take it on, whatever it is"

Emerald sucked in a cold breath, for it was the first time she heard the Harbinger speak in such a manner, as if it was something even he could not deal with alone.

She frowned with worry, "Do you think it might be related to the Sanctuary? Our grudge is deep, and Bishop-"

"Bishop alone does not have the authority to do anything," he interjected, "As for the rest of the Sanctuary... I don't believe they have recovered after that day..."
