Chapter 3 - 3: So You're Called Sabretooth?

"According to intelligence from our ally, Canada, Logan and Victor are half-brothers."

"They've lived for a very long time. It's said the elder brother, Victor, has a particularly violent temperament."

The Colonel briefed Jeno on the two, not forgetting to advise, "If you're not confident about controlling these two, it might be better to choose someone else."

Both brothers were hot-tempered tough guys. Even their own military unit regarded them as monsters.

"No, that's even better."

Jeno rejected the Colonel's suggestion, expressionlessly pulling the files of the two men from the stack.

Looking at their mugshots, Jeno cracked a wide grin:

"I like team members with an untamed spirit!"

With that, Jeno bent his knees slightly.

"Wait, Jeno! Where are you planning to go?"

The Colonel hurriedly asked.

"To meet my team members!"

Jeno's leg muscles tensed. The next moment, the ground beneath his feet exploded, generating a massive shockwave that swept through the entire base, forcing everyone to squint.

Squinting against the blast, Colonel Phillips struggled to make out the figure within the dust cloud. It shot forward like a human cannonball, crashing through the base's ceiling and raining debris down.

Cough, cough! "That bastard!"

Eating a mouthful of dust, Phillips looked up to see Jeno's figure flying higher and higher, eventually shrinking to a tiny black dot.

Dr. Erskine popped up from somewhere, excitedly barking orders to the surrounding scientists:

"Quick! Record this! Jeno's flight speed is comparable to a bullet!"

By now, Jeno had already reached the cloud layer. His extreme velocity easily parted the clouds as the landscape below rapidly receded.

Whoosh!

In mere seconds, Jeno was flying over the ocean.

He skimmed just above the sea surface, the water churning and parting on either side of his path.

"My God! Colonel! What is that thing?"

Aboard the aircraft carrier Langley, several soldiers stared in shock at Jeno's departing figure. To their naked eyes, it was just a blur streaking past.

"A... a missile?"

The colonel said uncertainly. But a missile wouldn't fly that low...

"Maybe a UFO?"

While they argued, Jeno had already reached Canada.

With his super vision, Jeno clearly saw Canadian soldiers lounging in the sun below.

Although he wasn't sure of the exact location where Logan and the others were held, he wasn't worried. After spending a bit of time circling all of Canada, he quickly spotted a secluded military compound.

"This is the place!"

Using his X-ray vision, Jeno saw a hidden cell deep within, where two men were chained with iron shackles. Outside, soldiers armed to the teeth stood guard.

BOOM!

Jeno landed with one knee on the ground, the tremendous impact shattering the earth beneath him.

The ground cracked, sending up a cloud of dust. Jeno, expressionless, walked towards the guard post.

"Hey! Halt!"

The sentry guard stared at Jeno in terror.

This guy had fallen from the sky and was walking straight towards them. Clearly, he meant trouble.

Jeno glanced sideways at the sentry, then continued towards the camp.

"Stop, or I'll shoot!"

The sentry nervously tightened his grip on his rifle. In this situation, only his firearm gave him any sense of security.

"Quiet."

Red light flared in Jeno's eyes. The next second, searing lasers melted the foundation of the watchtower.

"Ahhh!"

The tower collapsed. The sentry fell from his perch, watching Jeno's departing figure in horror.

Jeno walked to the main gate, kicked aside the barbed wire barricade blocking his path, and strode into the military camp.

"Who goes there?"

The Canadian soldiers quickly noticed this uninvited guest.

He was wearing an American uniform, so he didn't seem like an enemy.

Jeno stated, "I'm looking for your commanding officer. Bring him to see me immediately."

Soon, a soldier summoned the camp's person in charge.

The man in charge was a brawny man in his early thirties, smiling at Jeno.

"Hello. May I ask who you are?"

The man smiled, extending his hand. Jeno glanced at it but made no move to shake.

The man awkwardly withdrew his hand.

Jeno spoke slowly:

"By order of the Allied Command, I am here to transfer two individuals from your camp: Logan and Victor."

As he spoke, he produced Colonel Phillips's authorization papers.

The man in charge flipped through the documents, his expression turning odd. "Uh, sir... those two have... mental issues. We can't just let them out."

Are you kidding? Logan and Victor are like wild beasts. If we let them out, everyone in this camp would die!

"Execute the order."

Jeno stared at the man, applying pressure. "I won't say it a second time."

Looking sheepish, the man in charge turned and ordered his men to release Logan and Victor, while signaling his soldiers to ready their weapons just in case.

Clank.

The iron door swung open. Immediately, two figures charged out like a whirlwind.

"ROAR! I'll kill all of you!"

The leading man was dressed in tattered rags, his clothes reduced to strips hanging from his frame.

His wild, short hair, the man scanned the surrounding soldiers like a beast, snarling, "I'll tear out your throats and eat your faces!"

Jeno's gaze fell on the man's sharp fingernails. This one was likely Victor, the lunatic codenamed Sabretooth.

The other man was somewhat shorter, with a full beard. That should be Wolverine, Logan.

"Hey, you two! The one looking for you isn't us! It's this guy from America!"

The man in charge hurriedly distanced himself, pointing at Jeno.

At the same time, he felt a bit of schadenfreude, wanting to see Jeno humiliated. After all, these two were known to kill at the slightest provocation.

"American?"

Sabretooth spat disdainfully. Having been locked underground for so long without sunlight, his eyes were narrowed to slits. He glared coldly at Jeno. "Pretty boy, what do you want with us?"

Hearing Sabretooth's words, Jeno raised an eyebrow slightly. This guy really was arrogant.

"I need you to join 'The Boys' and carry out missions under my command."

Jeno crossed his arms, staring at Sabretooth, holding up one finger. "This is your first offense against me."

"I quite appreciate your untamed attitude. I hope you can maintain it."

"Oh?" Sabretooth was instantly intrigued.

He instantly closed the distance, looking up at Jeno, who stood a head taller. "And what if I offend you? You ass-less Ameri—"

Sabretooth didn't get to finish. Everyone saw Jeno's hand snap up, followed by a punch straight to Sabretooth's jaw.

CRUNCH!

Tens of tons of terrifying force instantly shattered Sabretooth's jaw. The brutal fist didn't stop, continuing until it pulverized the entire skull.

The sturdy cranium exploded like a watermelon, red pulp spraying everywhere.

Jeno shook the blood and gore from his hand, smiling at the headless body twitching on the ground, finishing the sentence he'd prepared: "If there's a second time, I'll blow your head off."

Silence.

Everyone stood frozen like robots with their power cut off. What had they just witnessed?

The murderous Victor had his skull casually smashed by this young man? Was that even humanly possible?

Now,

Everyone looked at Jeno with undisguised terror. This was undoubtedly a madman even more frightening than Sabretooth.

Beside them, Wolverine was also startled by Jeno's brutality. He felt a small sense of relief. Good thing I'm the quiet type and didn't become the 'chicken' used to scare the 'monkeys.'

Victor's corpse lay twitching on the ground. But Jeno could see the severed neck frantically regenerating flesh and skin. Perhaps in less than thirty minutes, a new head would grow?

"You, pick him up. Follow me."

Jeno pointed at Wolverine.

The fierce Wolverine, now as obedient as a schoolboy, lowered his head, gathered Sabretooth's remains, and followed Jeno out of the military camp.
