When she reached the bottom, the larger zombie demon lunged. Night did not use her scythe. Instead, she twisted and dropped into a low, human combat stance, following the rules.
"Good," Night said. "The bracelet has not shut me down. That means these monsters did not drag me too far down. I will worry about going back up later. For now, I will make sure you stay dead."
A group of smaller zombie demons attacked. Night easily predicted their moves. She did not use her heavenly powers. Instead, she used perfect and focused martial arts skills. Fighting her was like trying to hit a shadow. She used palm strikes to break their knee joints and her fists to crush the sides of their heads. Her speed was like a human's, but her technique was deadly. She easily defeated the slow zombie demons. Blood splattered everywhere, making the scene look even worse than before. Soon, only scraps remained. It was a messy victory for the Angel of Death, who was fighting under strict rules.
The Angel's face remained calm and blank. She looked at the bodies lying on the ground. "Hmm, I know they are weak," Night said to herself. "But I do not remember them being this weak."
Then, she saw one of the zombie demons move. She walked over to ask it some questions. "Hey, you," Night said. "Where did you drag me? How do I go back up?"
The creature only grunted. It could not speak clearly. The angel looked confused. "What? I am pretty sure I did not cut your tongue. Why can't you talk? Great, the only survivor is the useless one. Talk about bad luck."
"Y... you..." the zombie demon whispered.
"Hmm? What was that?" Night asked.
The zombie demon gasped, "You will not get away with this!" It laughed like a madman. "This is not the end for us. They will come and get you! They will throw you into the darkest parts of hell where you will burn! Your body will be torn apart and bugs will crawl inside you. You will get no mercy. You will get no salvation!"
The demon did not get to finish its sentence. Night lashed out. A flash of silver light appeared as her scythe came out. She cut off its head with one strike. Then, she crushed the head with her boot.
"Tsk, so noisy," Night said. "This is one of the main reasons why I hate demons so much."
She checked her surroundings. A faint, sickly light filled the place. Tall trees stood there, but they were already dead. Soulless bodies moved around without any goal. "Is this Limbo?" the Angel asked herself. "Strange. Limbo is much darker than this. I think this is the Abyss."
She looked up at the sky. It was dark, and the clouds looked like thick smoke. "I think this will work," Night said. She stretched her wings. They were a magnificent mix of silver and dark grey. With one big flap, she flew up fast. She reached the thick clouds easily. Once she was through, she used her scythe to cut a hole in the barrier. It was just big enough for her to pass.
Suddenly, she was back at Hana's house. The grass on the ground closed up as if nothing strange had happened. Harvey walked toward her while she acted calm.
"Madame!" Harvey said. "I got the flower pot for you! Look, isn't it a beauty?"
Night smiled. "Oh wow, it is very pretty," she replied. "I can tell you put a lot of thought into choosing this." Harvey was very happy to hear that.
"Oh, excuse me, Madame," Harvey said. "My Mademoiselle is calling me."
"Sure, take your time," Night said. Harvey left to go back inside.
Night thought to herself, "It is a good thing that time moves slower here than in the Abyss. It seems like I was not gone for long. But I am worried about what that demon said."
She continued her inner monologue. "Come and get us? This mission is a very big deal. If it weren't, they would not have sent so many reinforcements. We must be careful. We are in danger, especially Hana."
Night sighed. "So, I have to try extra hard, too."
With that, she completely changed her form. She stopped looking like a cheerful angel in a uniform. She turned into a tall, imposing human in a goth style. She was now over six feet tall and looked very strong. Her eyes looked wild and smart, and she looked very dangerous. This was the form she needed to protect Hana from the high level demons.
