CHAPTER 2: WORTH IT
"We broke up", Teema said with a sullen look on her face.
"What how", Micheal asked looking surprised.
"It was just after I left the vice principal's office. I met him on the way to class and without a heads up, he just said he was done" she said resignedly.
They were sitting in the cafeteria after fourth period about to eat the lunch that Micheal brought to school when she said it.
"But I thought you said you guys were in love", Micheal asked with surprise in his time but not his eyes.
"I guess I was wrong. Listen, I know you warned me about him and I didn't listen . I thought I knew what I was doing but I guess I didn't", she said with melancholy etched on her face.
"It's not your fault alright, you were in love or at least you thought you were in love and from what I ve seen girls in love tend to be unreasonable and most times do not like to listen to others saying they are wrong", Micheal said with a sigh.
"But seriously what happened", Micheal asked.
"During the holidays we had a fight. He'd post himself at various parties hanging out with various girls and it got me angry. I confronted him about it and he turned it on me saying that I was the cause since I always refused to go out with him. He said that as a normal guy he had needs and I had refused to help him with those needs and there were others out there who would give anything to complete those needs for him but he was still sticking with me so I had zero right to chastise him for attending parties with others",Teema said sadly.
"How could he. And you yourself, all of this was going on and you didn't seem it fit to talk to me huh", Micheal said with anger on his face.
"I'm sorry...I thought I could handle it and I know how you get when it concerns me especially cause I know that you don't really like him so.....", She trailed off as Micheal interrupted.
"So just because you know I don't like him you let yourself go through all of this without a word, is it because you don't trust me or what, cause this excuse if me not liking him should be the more reason you should have told me", Micheal said with a little less anger in his voice.
"It's not like that Mich, of course I trust you, if I don't trust you who would I trust, alright it was my mistake, I guess it was mostly because I didn't want you to say I told you so because you warned me to be careful and I didn't listen. I'm sorry alright", she said with a pout as she held his arm and started shaking it.
"Alright it's fine, so what are you going to do about this", Micheal asked.
"I don't understand what you are talking about", Teema said with a confused look on her face.
"Let's leave that aside so what then happened".
"Well, he later apologized saying that those words were not intentional, than he was in a bad mood at that time that's why he said those words out of anger", She said as she closed and opened her fists concentrating on them like they were some kind of magical objects.
"I guess you just forgave him, I mean how shameless can a guy be and how blinded by feelings can you get. I've always told you to put your self first no matter what but no, you just have to let some random guy walk all over you in the name of love. Now take a look at where it got you, even with all your forgiveness and understanding he dumped you without a second thought, I'm sure he already has someone new ", Micheal worth thinly veiled anger on his face.
"Actually I saw him kissing Amanda, your rival from class two Axel's twin sister, that was when he broke up with me", She said and she bowed her head to avoid seeing the anger she knew was on Micheal's face.
"So even before he broke up with you he already had someone and he decided to humiliate you by breaking up with you in public , in front of her", Micheal said calmly causing Teema to look up sharply as nshe knew Micheal only got that calm whenever he was very angry and was about to do something dangerous.
"Micheal don't do anything rash, he's not worth it and by the way I only told you so you can take me out to ice cream not for you to act on it", she said nervously.
"Who said anything about acting on it. Don't worry I'm not going to do anything rash", Micheal said with a smile that didn't reach his eyes making Teema worried as she knew how dangerous Micheal could be if he got truly angry which was why he rarely got angry, in fact he tried so hard to keep his anger in that it had been more than a year since she saw him truly angry which was why she was surprised and a bit scared at the same time.
"Micheal, promise me you won't do anything dangerous", she said hurriedly as she sook his arm.
"I won't alright, I already told you", he replied with a smile that seemed to reach his eyes except that she couldn't see the glint that passed through when she wasn't looking.
"No, you have to promise me", Teema said adamantly.
"Okay I promise", Micheal said with a smile.
"Okay that's good, oh that's the bell time to head to class, let's go", she said as she stood up at the sound of the bell as she dragged Micheal to stand up.
"Go on , I'll meet up lemme quickly trash this", he said as he pointed at the cold lunch which they had forgotten to eat in the heat of their discussion.
"Okay hurry up, I'll wait for you outside", she said as she turned to walk out.
"Forgive me Tee, but some bastards have to be taught a lesson about messing with my people", Micheal said with a dark look on his face as he trashed the lunch.
"I guess I'll have to start therapy and the anger management program again after this, but for you it's worth it", Micheal muttered as he jogged and caught up with Teema who was none the wiser about his thoughts as they walked to class.
