"What kind of hospital is this far?" Auntie Breen nagged as the car made it's 4th turn. Fatima quickly texted her Father telling him how she met Auntie Breen and how she insisted on following her to the hospital. "You better keep that phone in your bag and focus on the road" Breen sneered, Fatima snubbed her and switched off her phone with a light smile.
After seeing his daughter's message, Mr Akini waited for them by the hospital's entrance looking miserable, he's fed up with the constant nagging of his family, he knew Breen's visit would bring trouble. "Congratulations my sweet brother, how's the baby boy?" She jumped happily. Mr Akini sighed "the baby is very good and the mother is healthy" he said smiling faintly "let's go see them" he said again quickly before Breen could say anything. They all went to the ward room where Mrs Akini was allocated to.
"Oh,Auntie Breen,you came" Mrs Akini said smiling genuinely, she was finally happy they would let her be for her childlessness. "Where's my baby boy, brother?" Breen said ignoring Binta's greetings. Fatima left the luggage she was unpacking and walked over to her Father's side, her hands akimbo, she said scornfully "she's a girl". "I knew it!, when you started ignoring my questions and the look on your face, I knew your wife gave birth to nothing but another liability" Breen hissed facing her brother. Mr Akini, disappointed in her sister pulled her out of the room to the corridor. Fatima sat beside her mother, held her hands and smiled sweetly at her trying to console her but her mother who already knew what she was doing smiled back and told her she's used to it.
"Would you stop embarrassing me like that? Why would you say such in front of my wife, how do you want her to feel?" Mr Akini said angrily half dragging Breen. Breen fred herself from her brother's grip "I'm sorry Brother but why would she give birth to a female child again after many years of bareness and...", "my wife is not barren and watch how you talk about her, besides she didn't create the child herself so be careful " said Mr Akini cutting her short. "I know you'll always support her" Breen muttered under low breaths. Mr Akini sighed again "Please just go home, and tell Mama the good news" he pleaded. "This is no good news" she yelled back and she walked out of the hospital
"She's gone" Mr Akini said as he entered the ward smiling.
