"Come, everyone, have a drink."
Mrs. Brief walked up to the group with a gentle smile and handed each of them a cup of tea.
"Thank you, Mrs. Brief!" Qin Yan said as he took the tea, returning her smile.
Little Lia followed Qin Yan's lead and offered her own thanks. She held the cup to her face, sniffing it curiously to see if it would be tasty. After taking a tentative sip, her eyes lit up. She raised the cup and drained the tea in one go, clearly satisfied with the flavor.
The others smiled at the sight, finding the young girl quite adorable.
"And this must be Miss Bulma?" Qin Yan asked, his gaze shifting to the young girl standing behind Mrs. Brief.
"Yes, that's right."
The Briefs were taken aback. They hadn't expected Qin Yan to be able to call out their daughter's name. While Bulma was well-known throughout West City, Qin Yan and his companion had only just arrived. The fact that they already knew her name was both surprising and confusing.
Did they investigate our family before coming here? the couple wondered, exchanging a quick look.
"Hello! My name is Qin Yan, and this is my partner, Lia. It's a pleasure to meet you." Qin Yan waved at Bulma with a friendly smile.
"Hello... I... my name is... Bulma."
Bulma studied Qin Yan and Lia with her large, sky-blue eyes. Hearing his introduction, she knew she should introduce herself out of politeness, but she kept her head low. Her voice was hesitant, as if there were something difficult to say. When she finally whispered her name, she turned her face away, unable to meet their eyes, seemingly trying to hide her embarrassment.
"Bulma... that's a very pretty name."
Looking at her shy and awkward expression, Qin Yan knew exactly what she was thinking. Bulma felt her name was far too strange. In the original story, when Son Goku and Bulma first met and he asked for her name, her reaction was exactly the same. She didn't like the name, and when Goku commented that it was a weird name, she had grown quite annoyedall of which she blamed on her eccentric father.
"Really?"
Upon hearing his words, Bulma snapped her head up. Her sky-blue eyes shimmered with joy as she looked at Qin Yan.
"Mhm!" Qin Yan nodded with a smile.
In truth, Bulma was a genius scientist with an incredibly high IQ. In the original Dragon Ball Z, her future self had even managed to build a Time Machine capable of breaching the barriers of space and time to travel to the past and futurea feat that was truly terrifying.
She had originally set out to collect the Dragon Balls just to find a romantic love. At the age of sixteen, she left home alone and began the grand adventure to find the Dragon Balls alongside Son Goku and the others. That was how the entire story began.
One of the greatest regrets for many readers of the original work was that they hoped Son Goku and Bulma would end up together. However, the author, Akira Toriyama, had once confirmed that he never intended for them to be a couple.
It truly was a bit of a pity.
Bulma was a legendary characterpassionate, pure, lively, brave, and honest, yet also possessing a fiery temper. She was always willing to help her friends.
In Dragon Ball Super, when Beerus disrupted her birthday party, the tough-minded Bulma had actually slapped him, only to be knocked unconscious in return. Vegeta, who was already heavily injured, witnessed this and exploded in a fit of rage,
unleashing power that surpassed Super Saiyan 3 to fight against Beerus. Even though Vegeta's strength always seemed to stay one step behind Son Goku's, his singular devotion gave Bulma a truly steady and powerful pillar to lean on. In the end, she was arguably the happiest woman in the Dragon Ball world.
"Haha! I'm very happy to meet you both!"
Qin Yan's affirming answer made Bulma incredibly happy. This was the first time someone hadn't found her name strange or mocked her for it. A wave of warmth filled her heart, and the way she looked at Qin Yan became much softer and friendlier.
Seeing this, Dr. and Mrs. Brief both smiled. It seemed their first meeting was going very smoothly.
"By the way, dear, these two children will be staying with us for a while. Please have the servants prepare rooms for them."
Dr. Brief took a moment to explain the situation to his wife.
"Really? That's wonderful! I'll go make the arrangements right away." Mrs. Brief said joyfully. She welcomed the idea of them staying; she already felt a great deal of affection for the two lovely children.
"Young friend Qin Yan, why don't you two go rest for a bit? I'm going to get started on researching that spaceship," Dr. Brief said with a grin.
Qin Yan smiled back. He could tell the doctor was itching to get his hands on the craft.
"Bulma, why don't you take Qin Yan and Lia for a tour around the house?" Mrs. Brief suggested.
"Okay, Xixi!"
Bulma was more than happy to show them around, her voice sounding sweet and high-pitched. "Come on! I'll show you guys around my home!"
With that, Bulma grabbed Qin Yan and Lia by their hands and led them toward the main villa.
"That child!" Mrs. Brief shook her head, watching Bulma's energetic departure.
Bulma pulled Qin Yan and Lia along, touring the massive villa from the ground floor all the way to the top. The tour lasted over an hour.
During that time, Bulma never stopped asking Qin Yan about what interesting things were out there in the universe. Lia took over and told her stories of their adventures. Bulma listened with rapt attention, her eyes sparkling with curiosity and her heart fluttering with excitement.
Eventually, Bulma led Qin Yan to a small room on the third floor. It was filled with various components and parts; it looked like a miniature laboratory.
Bulma explained that this was her private space where she conducted her own research. Qin Yan was stunned. She was a true child prodigy; to be able to work with such advanced technology at such a young age was nothing short of incredible.
Grumble!
Suddenly, a strange sound broke the silence. They turned to see Little Lia laughing sheepishly. The sound had come from herit was the sound of her stomach growling. Seeing her embarrassed expression, Qin Yan knew she was hungry.
"Hahaha! Let me take you guys out to get something to eat! We can walk around the streets and have some fun while we're at it."
Hearing Lia's stomach, Bulma burst into laughter. She found the two of them very interesting and immediately prepared to take them out for a meal.
