She pulled back a small corner of the sheet, revealing a sleek set of pitch-black leather armor. It was lined with dark, matte-metal plates that seemed to swallow the light in the room.
"It's designed for a Shadow Vanguard," Vex explained. "Since your Void Eel can phase through solid objects, I enchanted the leather using the old empire text. If you time it right, the armor will let your physical body phase through walls right behind your summon for three seconds at a time."
Smithy just stared at the dark armor. His hands shook a little bit as he reached out and touched the leather. "I... I don't know what to say, Vex."
"Just say you'll use it to keep my favorite customers alive," Vex grunted. "Now, onto the real show."
She grabbed the edge of the sheet and ripped the whole thing away.
The new gear shined brightly under the forge lights.
