Chapter 9 - STRIP

CALI

When we arrived at the mansion, the driver parked and stepped out. I followed shortly after as a few maids hurried over to collect my luggage from the trunk. They greeted me politely, and I nodded in response.

They were all neatly dressed and efficient, quickly carrying my bags inside.

The mansion was easily twice as grand as my parents' house—it practically screamed wealth. I was still lost in thought when a maid's voice pulled me back.

"Welcome, ma'am," she said warmly.

"Thank you," I replied.

"My name is Bethel. I'll be your personal maid," she added.

I nodded, slightly surprised. Who told Mr. Smith I needed a personal maid? I wondered.

"Let me show you to your room," Bethel said, leading the way. She was very polite, which eased my nerves a little.

When we entered the room, I looked around in awe. It was massive, complete with a queen-sized bed and a sitting area. I immediately dropped onto the nearby couch, exhausted.

"What would you like to eat, ma'am?" Bethel asked.

"I'm fine with a cup of milk," I said. "And please don't call me ma'am—just call me Cali."

She nodded and returned shortly with a cup of warm milk. I took a few sips; it was rich and creamy. Soon after, I lay down and drifted into sleep.

When I woke up, I felt much better. Bethel later gave me a tour of the house. The place felt like paradise. I couldn't help but wonder how Mr. Smith had acquired such luxury at such a young age.

BRYAN

I would have gone home earlier, but I still had a lot of work to do. With Cali staying at the mansion, I realized I needed a new secretary.

Later that day, Catherine asked about my fiancée. When I told her it was Cali, she looked shocked and disappointed but didn't ask further questions.

A few minutes after she left, Jason came in. He asked if I had finally gotten a girlfriend to please my mum. I answered yes, which surprised him.

He joked about how easily I attracted women and how surprised he was that I found someone so quickly.

"Well, I'd say it's luck," I said with a laugh.

"That's not what I'd call luck," he replied, laughing.

"Either way, congrats. I have to go—my girlfriend is waiting," he said before leaving my office.

I hadn't expected the visit, but that was Jason—always busy, just like me. The difference was that he was in a serious relationship, while I preferred to keep things casual.

CALI

Later that day, Bethel and I went shopping as instructed by Mr. Smith. The entire mall had been booked, which made the experience overwhelming. Everything was expensive, and I didn't know what to choose.

Most of the outfits were picked by Bethel. When we returned home, the maids collected the bags, and I dragged myself inside, completely exhausted.

As I entered the sitting room, I saw Mr. Smith seated confidently on the couch. I felt like ignoring him, but the maids were nearby.

"Good evening," I greeted.

"Follow me," he said.

I obeyed, following him into his room. The lights were dim, and I could barely see anything.

What does Mr. Grumpy want now? I wondered.

Just as I was lost in thought, I heard his low, firm voice.

"STRIP" he commanded in an unexplainable tome that i couldn't read
