Genevieve drew in a sharp breath, her eyes widening as she stared at Ivy like her daughter had lost her mind completely.
'How could aconite powder be used this way?' she wondered in disbelief. 'Just one dose had already terrified me beyond measure. Yet Ivy still planned to marry Lucius as scheduled, even intending to take the powder again on their wedding day.'
Genevieve wasn't alone in her shock. Jasper also believed this plan was absolutely insane.
"Absolutely not," Jasper interrupted her curtly. "Allowing you to take it once today was already pushing every safety boundary, Ivy. How can you even think about taking it again?"
Ivy broke down in hysterical tears. Petrified that the happiness she'd finally grasped might vanish, she actually turned on Jasper, sobbing, "But if I can't marry Lucius, what reason do I have to live? I'd rather die than remain trapped like this!"
