Bella's POV
I had one foot out the door when Gideon's threatening words hit me like a slap. I froze, pulling my foot back inside.
Turning to face him, I let sarcasm drip from every word. "Before you come gunning for me, maybe clean up your own backyard first. Stop being the idiot who helps the very person stabbing you in the back."
Gideon blinked, clearly thrown off. "What the hell are you talking about?"
I shot him a look sharp enough to cut glass. "Ever wonder why every piece of gossip about me lands right in your lap? Haven't you figured out the pattern yet?"
I hadn't planned on spelling it out for Gideon.
But God, he was so painfully dense that I almost felt bad for him.
Gideon's jaw tightened. "Obviously someone got sick of watching you pull your stunts and decided to report you."
"Right," I drawled, my voice thick with mockery. "So I should've just stood there while Kenneth framed Grandma and tore apart her storage room? That what you wanted?"
