Bella's POV
Jasper flinched under my razor-sharp stare, as if I'd driven a blade straight through him.
I could tell he was remembering that night—the night he made me kneel in the pouring rain.
This time felt different, though. He'd witnessed it himself.
Jasper was dead certain he'd watched me shove Ivy into the river.
Yet beneath my cutting gaze, I could see doubt creeping in. 'Maybe what I saw wasn't real?' his expression seemed to ask.
I'd already told him the truth—Ivy fell in all by herself.
'What a joke,' Jasper must be thinking. 'Who throws themselves into a river and risks dying? And sweet, innocent Ivy would never do something so twisted!'
He pulled himself together and faced me again.
"Drop the act. Can't you just own up to what you did?"
"What exactly am I supposed to own up to?" My voice turned arctic as I stared down these so-called family members, disappointment flooding through me.
