Julian flashed Lucius a mocking grin before pulling the carriage curtain shut.
The wheels started turning, and Lucius lunged forward to stop it, but Ivy's grip tightened around him.
"Lucius, stop chasing her," she whispered.
"Bella's found her joy. Be glad for her."
Lucius's bloodshot eyes tracked the carriage until it vanished from sight.
All energy seemed to leave him at once. He swayed on his feet.
Spinning around, he fixed Ivy with an accusing stare. "Why did you say those things back there?"
Terror flickered across Ivy's face. Tears sprang to her eyes as she bit her lip, staring at Lucius in bewilderment.
"Lucius, are you angry with me? But you witnessed it yourself—Bella and Prince Julian. They announced their engagement."
Rage burned in Lucius's eyes. Her words made him explode. "Ivy, you better truly be as naive as you act."
Even with his previous blindness, the truth was crystal clear now. Ivy had orchestrated everything.
